Job Description / Essential Elements: Print

  1. Provides personal and social counseling to students.

  2. Consults with students, parents, and school personnel concerning lack of attendance and health/social/behavioral problems of students.

  3. Assists administration with student interventions to improve discipline and attendance. This intervention is primarily for students whose parents are in the Calworks program, and will be provided by:

? establishing improvement plans through agreements with students, parents, and significant school personnel to include nurse, teacher, principal, Child Welfare and Attendance Coordinator, and others.

? making home visits to confer with parents on health related issues including instructions on eliminating lice and other negative contributors within the home.

? maintaining necessary records on attendance, parent contacts (phone, letters, home visits, office visits, etc.), classroom visits, discussions with school personnel, etc.

? submitting detailed monthly, quarterly, and yearly reports as required on attendance, contacts made, home visits, etc.

? contacting out-of-district agencies on behalf of students and parents related to health, benefits, etc.

  1. Assists with Student Study Teams, referrals for individual testing, special education program, and health problems.

  2. Assists with administration of group tests and interprets group test data to students, parents, and teachers including achievement and aptitude tests and interest surveys. Counsels with parents concerning student data and school progress.

  3. Possesses basic knowledge of computer programs, i.e., Windows applications and student information systems.

  4. Performs other duties as may be assigned by immediate Supervisor within the limits of the contract.

  1. Must possess a valid California Pupil Personnel Services Credential or be Intern Eligible. 2. Must include: Edjoin Application, copy of transcripts, copy of appropriate credential. 3. Three (3) Letters of Recommendation dated within two years. Must attach Letter of Intent and Resume.
