The Neenah Joint School District is accepting applications for a 1.0 FTE School Counselor at Neenah High School, starting in the 2026-2027 school year. The anticipated start date is August 25, 2026.

The Neenah Joint School District (NJSD) is committed to excellence in education and providing students with the skills and knowledge they need to succeed. As a school counselor at NJSD, you will have the opportunity to make a meaningful impact on the lives of students and help them achieve their goals.

We are seeking a dedicated and passionate school counselor to join our educational team. The ideal candidate will be committed to planning, implementing, and directing the ongoing improvement of a comprehensive developmental school counseling program. Additionally, the candidate will facilitate family involvement and engagement. The school counselor supports students with a wide range of educational needs; provides school guidance curriculum through classroom instruction; individual or small group counseling; consultation with parents, teachers, and other educators, and makes referrals to community resources. In partnership with building administration, provides continuous social-emotional learning professional development for all staff. Partners with the Hope Program to provide on-site mental health services. Counselors case manage students with 504 plans and serve as LEA's for IEP's.

Candidates will have the following qualities and/or have experience in or knowledge of:

  • Skilled in working with students in their academic, social, emotional, and personal development, including post-secondary planning and career exploration, ensuring all students have access to an equitable education.
  • Ability to be the liaison between students, parents, teachers, and administrators.
  • Strong desire to foster positive relationships with students and staff.
  • Knowledge of community resources.
  • Experience in dealing with adolescents in crisis.
  • Ability to multitask in a very unstructured daily schedule.
  • Working knowledge of 504s.
  • Demonstrates flexibility to perform duties over the summer months.
  • ASCA National Model.

Qualifications

  • Education: Master's degree in education from an accredited program.
  • License: Must hold or be eligible for Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction (DPI) certification at the appropriate subject and developmental level.
  • Successful completion of counseling practicum and internships.
  • Knowledge of current educational methodology and practices.
  • Strong understanding of curriculum development and instructional practices.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues, students, and parents.
  • Passion for fostering a positive and inclusive district culture.
  • Commitment to professional growth and continuous improvement.
