Main Purpose of Job
The School Based State Mathematics Coach plays a critical role in improving K-8 mathematics instruction and outcomes by providing non-evaluative support through job-embedded instructional coaching grounded in the evidence-based mathematics instructional practices in alignment with high-quality instructional materials (HQIM). The coach strengthens teachers'' capacity to deliver systematic and visible math instruction aligned to grade level content standards.
The coach supports the implementation of Maryland''s Comprehensive PreK-12 Math Policy by promoting coherent mathematics instruction across grade levels, strengthening Tier I mathematics instruction, and helping teachers internalize units and lessons aligned to evidence based practices. The coach advances the Maryland State Department of Education Strategic Plan, Pillar 3 by leading improvements in mathematics proficiency through recurring coaching cycles, targeted feedback, data driven instructional decision making, and professional learning aligned to state mathematics priorities.
Working collaboratively with teachers, school leaders, and district staff, the coach ensures that all students in K-8 receive consistent, research aligned mathematics instruction that prepares them to meet grade level expectations and achieve long term success.
POSITION DUTIES
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education:Â A Masterâs degree or the equivalent of 36 credit hours of post-baccalaureate coursework in mathematics, STEM, education or a related area from an accredited college or university.
Experience: Four years of administrative or teaching experience in or affiliated with mathematics programs in prekindergarten through 12 settings or related areas.

One year of teaching experience in a Kindergarten through 8th Grade Mathematics Education Program.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

This position requires travel throughout the State of Maryland and throughout designated Counties to support teachers within individual school(s) and oversee the effective implementation of Mathematics initiatives.
