Speech Language Pathologist - Menasha, WI

Chileda's mission is to improve the quality of life for individuals with cognitive and behavior challenges. Chileda's goal is to help students increase their appropriate social behaviors and develop independent living skills, through an enriched learning environment and individualized behavior programming. We are now accepting applications for a Speech Language Pathologist.

Summary:

The Speech Language Pathologist helps students and residents of Chileda who have communication, language and speech problems. The Speech Language Pathologist will work to prevent, assess, diagnose, and treat speech, language, and swallowing disorders in students served at Chileda. This position works closely with other departments including Special Education Teachers, Behavior Specialists, Case Managers, and House Managers to generalize speech treatment to the natural environment.

Status Info:

This is a full-time position with hours generally Monday through Friday, 8am-4pm.

Education Requirements: Master's Degree in Speech Language Pathology required. Wisconsin License for Speech and Language Pathology or have obtained within one year of hire. Experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities, Autism Spectrum Disorder and attachment challenges is preferred.

Job Duties Include:

  • Prepare for and provide speech therapy sessions to student in either one-on-one or group settings.
  • Create lesson plans for students.
  • Prepare for and attend (when requested) 30-day, quarterly, IEP, and discharge meetings.
  • Write IEP present levels, goals, and progress reports.
  • Conduct assessments and compile assessment reports for determining eligibility and monitoring progress.
  • Train and provide support to Direct Support Professionals (DSPs) by leading Augmentative Communications trainings.
  • Track data on treatment plan and IEP objectives.
  • Maintaining visual forms of communication for individual students, including low tech and high tech AAC systems.
  • Maintain and replace GoTalks throughout the facility.
