School Athletic Trainer (Wood-Ridge Jr./Sr. High School) (10 months + Summer Stipend)

Primary Purpose

Wood-Ridge Jr./Sr. High School is seeking a passionate, dedicated, and highly qualified Certified Athletic Trainer for the 20262027 academic year. The successful candidate will be responsible for the health, safety, and physical well-being of our interscholastic student-athletes. This includes developing, coordinating, and implementing a comprehensive athletic health care program focused on injury prevention, emergency care, clinical diagnosis, and therapeutic rehabilitation.

Essential Performance Responsibilities

  • Injury Prevention & Care: Plan and implement physical conditioning, preventative taping, bracing, and wrap applications to minimize athletic injuries.
  • Emergency Response: Provide on-site coverage and immediate first aid/emergent care for all scheduled home athletic events, practices, and designated away or post-season contests.
  • Evaluation & Rehabilitation: Assess, manage, and clinically diagnose athletic injuries. Design and supervise individual rehabilitation and reconditioning programs for recovering student-athletes.

  • Concussion Management: Strictly enforce and implement the school district's and state's concussion protocols, ensuring appropriate "Return to Learn" and "Return to Play" guidelines are executed.
  • Communication & Collaboration: Serve as the primary medical liaison between student-athletes, parents, coaches, school nurses, team physicians, and administration regarding injury status and clearance.

Administrative Duties: Maintain meticulous, confidential electronic medical records of all injuries, treatments, and physician clearances in compliance with HIPAA and FERPA. Oversee the athletic training room inventory and budget.

Equipment

Uses medical equipment as needed, and personal computers.

Travel Requirements

Frequent travel between athletic event sites may be required.

  • Certification/License: NJ #2930 School Athletic Trainer
  • NJ Athletic Trainer Certification

Salary Information

  • 10 month position with Summer Stipend
