Overview:
The SBA Closing Manager oversees the SBA Closing Team and directly supervises SBA Closing Officers (Closers). This role ensures that the documentation, closing, pre-funding, post-funding, and disbursement processes for SBA 7(a) and 504 loans fully comply with SBA eligibility requirements and bank policies. The Manager handles workload distribution, quality control, performance management, audit preparation, and provides hands-on closing backup when necessary.
Responsibilities:
Team Management & Leadership
- Assign loan files to Closers based on current workloads and individual capabilities.
- Host periodic meetings and training sessions to update the team on regulatory or policy changes.
- Conduct performance evaluations and provide ongoing mentorship to direct reports.
Quality Control & Compliance
- Perform quality control reviews of Closers' work to ensure completion and accuracy.
- Review files and logs including Customer Folders, Synergy, pipeline and funding reports, post-funding condition log, loan file review checklist and SBA QA checklist.
- Track post-funding conditions using internal logs to ensure timely clearing of exceptions.
- Enforce adherence to SBA SOP eligibility guidelines and bank procedures.
Audit & Risk Management
- Assist with internal audits and ERM/compliance reviews by gathering required materials.
- Lead the team response during SBA Risk-Based Reviews focused on closing and documentation.
- Provide supporting documentation to regulators, auditors, and risk management teams.
Operational Support & Execution
- Guide Closers through complex structural, collateral, or eligibility issues during closing.
- Step in as a backup Closer to personally handle and close loan deals when volume spikes or during a Closer's absence.
- Manage loan documentation and funding, pre-funding and post-funding disbursement workflows to ensure seamless loan optimization.
Collaboration:
- Work closely with the underwriting and portfolio management teams as well as relationship managers, business development managers and other business units to ensure seamless loan processing and closing.
- Collaborate with other departments to support business development and client retention.
- Participate in training and development programs to stay updated on SBA regulations and best practices.
- Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications:
- Minimum 5+ years of dedicated SBA loan closing experience and 3+ years of direct experience managing an SBA closing team.
- Proficient knowledge of SBA SOP 50 10.
- Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Finance, or a related field.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, negotiation, and decision-making abilities.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Familiarity with risk management practices and principles.
- Ability to handle multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.

Compensation:
The base pay range for this position is USD $120,000.00/Yr. - USD $160,000.00/Yr. Exact offers will be determined based on job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and location.
