What your night looks like
Sanitation wraps, the floors gleam, and you step in as the reliability expert who makes sure every line is set for a flawless 1st shift start. You move from conveyor to motor, following OEM specs and safety protocols, catching wear from the last washdown, and documenting it all in MaintainX. You coordinate with sanitation and operations, and you keep the Maintenance Manager in the loop. By the time dawn arrives, you’ve reduced risk, prevented delays, and protected critical assets.
Core responsibilities
- Carry out scheduled preventive maintenance from CMMS (MaintainX) work orders and record all labor and parts used.
- Inspect equipment for wear, corrosion, and washdown-related degradation in a high-moisture environment.
- Adhere to OEM procedures and specifications across mechanical and electrical systems.
- Troubleshoot and repair mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and basic electrical issues.
- Replace bearings, belts, chains, seals, motors, sensors, and valves as needed.
- Execute corrective repairs discovered during sanitation or PM inspections.
- Verify startup readiness so 1st shift operations can launch on time.
- Apply Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) precisely per plant safety requirements.
- After cleaning, confirm proper reassembly, functionality, and safe operation.
- Uphold food safety, GMPs, and all plant safety policies.
- Perform additional duties as assigned within the scope of the role.
Qualifications and experience
- High school diploma or GED required; technical certification or trade school preferred.
- 2+ years of maintenance experience in manufacturing or food production preferred.
- Strong mechanical aptitude with working knowledge of electrical and pneumatic systems.
- Background in washdown/high-moisture food production preferred.
- CMMS experience required; MaintainX preferred.
- Ability to read and interpret schematics, manuals, and mechanical drawings.
- Proven troubleshooting and problem-solving ability.
- Self-directed with strong prioritization; collaborative communicator.
Preferred certifications
- Technical Training Certification
- Lockout/Tagout Certification
Physical demands
Regularly: stand, walk, use hands to finger/handle/feel, reach with hands and arms, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, talk, hear. Occasionally: climb, balance, taste, smell. Lift/move up to 25 lbs regularly; more than 50 lbs with co-worker or mechanical assistance. Vision: close, distance, color, peripheral, depth perception, and focus adjustment.
Work environment
Frequent exposure to moving mechanical parts; wet, cold, and/or humid conditions; moderate to high noise. Availability for overtime, weekends, and occasional Holidays is required.
