Sample Control Technician

Description

Our client is seeking a detail-oriented and customer-focused Sample Control Technician to support daily laboratory operations through sample intake, scheduling, tracking, and communication. In this role, you will serve as a key point of coordination between customers, laboratory personnel, and management to ensure samples are accurately received, documented, processed, and delivered to the appropriate testing departments.

This position is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment, enjoys balancing administrative and hands-on responsibilities, and takes pride in maintaining accuracy, organization, and excellent customer service.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Maintain a safe, clean, and organized work environment while adhering to all safety policies and procedures

  • Follow department Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and related documentation requirements

  • Receive, document, schedule, and distribute laboratory samples to the appropriate chemical testing departments

  • Communicate with clients regarding order status, special requests, incomplete shipments, and samples requiring additional information

  • Review purchase orders to confirm testing requests and identify discrepancies for laboratory management review

  • Maintain and update the AIM database, including sample tracking records, customer contact information, equipment records, and loan order tracking

  • Clean and maintain sample containers, glassware, testing supplies, and laboratory equipment

  • Receive laboratory supplies and ensure they are routed to the appropriate departments

  • Support calibration, troubleshooting, repair, and maintenance of department equipment

  • Assist with the disposal of hazardous materials under limited supervision

  • Perform basic analytical testing as assigned

  • Participate in laboratory initiatives, special projects, and cross-functional support activities

  • Provide training and support to laboratory personnel as needed

  • Assist with additional duties and responsibilities assigned by management

What You Must Have

  • High school diploma, GED, or equivalent required

  • Prior customer service experience in a fast-paced environment

  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines

  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills

  • Strong organizational and time-management abilities

  • Ability to work effectively both independently and within a team environment

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, spreadsheets, and database systems

  • Willingness to take on new responsibilities and grow within the role

  • Ability to maintain professionalism when interacting with internal teams and external clients
