Salvage Warehouse Supervisor

The Northern California Division Distribution Center, located in Tracy California, has an opening for a Salvage Warehouse Supervisor. The Supervisor is responsible for overseeing daily operations of the Asset Recovery Center (ARC) within a unionized distribution center environment. This role ensures the safe, efficient, and compliant recovery, processing, and movement of recyclable materials, pallets, totes, and recoverable assets while supporting Safeway's operational goals.

Key Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Supervise and coordinate daily Asset Recovery Center (ARC) operations, including asset sorting, staging, baling, pallet and tote recovery, trailer loading, and housekeeping
  • Schedule and assign warehouse crew and equipment to meet schedules to handle daily volume efficiently.
  • Ability to coach, train and lead work teams to achieve performance as it relates to specialization in receiving, processing, storage, order assembly or loading.
  • Support training, onboarding, and reinforcement of standard operating procedures (SOPs)
  • Monitor productivity, labor utilization, and ARC performance metrics.
  • Ensure compliance with safety programs, OSHA requirements, and environmental standards
  • Coordinate with Transportation, Yard, Dispatch, and Warehouse leadership to ensure smooth asset flow
  • Conduct routine floor walks to ensure a clean, organized, and safe work environment
  • Keep abreast of Federal, State, and Municipal laws and regulations, collective bargaining agreements and Company work rules, regarding operations.
  • Participate in audits, investigations, and continuous improvement initiatives

We are looking for candidates who possess the following:

  • 2 years' experience in warehousing.
  • 2years previous supervisory experience in warehousing preferred.
  • Understanding of warehouse regulations regarding quality and safety.
  • Excellent organizational skills with a high degree of initiative and flexibility
  • Good analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Considerable initiative and frequent analysis necessary in daily work.
  • Excellent customer service skills with both internal and external customers
  • Proven ability to define performance measures related to the business and hold associates accountable for the same.
  • Ability to analyze cost performance data to improve operations and reduce costs
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and team building skills
  • Must possess the following traits: proactive, risk taker, change agent and strong sense of courage
  • Must be comfortable at giving and receiving open feedback.
  • Able to supervise a medium size group of warehouse employees

Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Access and PowerPoint.

  • Willingness to work evenings, night shifts, weekends and holidays.
