Ledgent Finance & Accounting's client is seeking a Sales Tax Accountant to join their accounting team due to a recent departure. This role plays a critical part in the month-end close and sales tax compliance processes across a large, multi-location environment. The client is moving quickly to fill this position and is open to candidates at different experience levels.
Salary: 72,000 - 95,000 (DOE)
Responsibilities
Month-End Close (First 10 Days of Each Month):
Manage and support the month-end close process
Oversee and reconcile operating expenses for approximately 250 locations
Ensure accuracy, completeness, and timeliness of expense reporting
Collaborate closely with Accounting and Finance teams to resolve variances
Sales Tax & Compliance (Remainder of the Month):
Prepare, review, and file multi-state sales tax returns
Manage sales tax compliance and reporting requirements
Support sales tax audits and respond to auditor inquiries
Assist with sales tax research and issue resolution as needed
Qualifications
Minimum of 2 years of hands-on sales tax experience
Experience with multi-state sales tax filings strongly preferred
Exposure to sales tax audits is a plus
Experience supporting month-end close activities
Strong attention to detail and ability to manage deadlines in a fast-paced environment
Systems & Tools
Avalara experience: nice to have, not required
ERP experience required (Epicor Prophet preferred, but experience with any ERP system is acceptable)
