Position Overview

The Sales Manager is responsible for driving revenue growth, strengthening client relationships, and overseeing internal sales operations. This role manages inside sales activities, leads a small team or cross-functional coordination efforts, and ensures the development of accurate proposals and quotes. The Sales Manager plays a key leadership role in client engagement, sales process improvement, and execution of strategic initiatives to support the overall success of the business development function.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage the inside sales function, including oversight of sales support staff, coordination with estimating and technical teams, and supervision of client account activity.
  • Develop and implement strategies for inbound lead response, qualification, and conversion to increase win rates and client satisfaction.
  • Guide the preparation and follow-up of quotes, proposals, and bid packages, ensuring accuracy, competitiveness, and alignment with operational capabilities.
  • Maintain strong client relationships through consistent communication, responsiveness, and understanding of customer needs.
  • Monitor and report on sales metrics, pipeline performance, and key performance indicators (KPIs) using CRM or other sales tracking tools.
  • Partner with operations, estimating, marketing, and project teams to deliver cohesive proposals and ensure service offerings match client requirements.
  • Provide coaching and support to team members involved in client communication, proposal preparation, or sales support functions.
  • Oversee the documentation of all client interactions and sales activities, maintaining updated records in CRM systems.
  • Participate in strategic planning, forecasts, and goal-setting for the sales department.
  • Represent the sales function in interdepartmental meetings, providing insights and feedback for continuous improvement.
  • Drive process improvements across the sales cycle to increase efficiency and client satisfaction.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned in support of business development and customer service objectives.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in business, engineering, marketing, communications, or a related field preferred. 4+ years of experience in inside sales, sales operations, or client management roles, preferably in a technical or service-based industry. Proven ability to lead, motivate, and manage teams or cross-functional groups. Strong written and verbal communication skills with a customer-centric approach. Proficient in CRM platforms (e.g., Salesforce, HubSpot) and Microsoft Office Suite. Excellent organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities with attention to detail. Strong problem-solving abilities and a proactive, solution-oriented mindset.

Demonstrated experience in developing client relationships and supporting complex proposals or bid processes.

Travel Requirements

This position does not require regular travel as part of its primary responsibilities. However, occasional

travel may be required, up to 10%, primarily for occasional off-site meetings, training sessions, or

company events. Travel, when necessary, will be communicated in advance and aligned with business

needs.

Physical Demands & Work Environment

  • This position primarily operates in a professional office environment, requiring the ability to work at a desk for extended periods while using a computer, phone, and standard office equipment.
  • The position involves sitting for extended periods, performing data entry, and engaging in frequent communication via email, phone, and in-person interactions.
  • The role involves regular communication with team members, clients, and stakeholders, both in person and through virtual platforms.
  • The physical demands of the job may include occasional standing, walking, bending, and lifting of office materials up to 15 pounds.
