General Summary:
Responsible for meeting or exceeding business goals and directing the sales effort of the region. Provides a hands-on team oriented approach to be actively involved in motivating the sales force on a weekly basis.
Principal Responsibilities:
· Develops and implements concept strategic sales plans to support and increase acquisition of clientele in assigned region.
· Involved in maintaining current company accounts as well as securing, qualifying and following up on leads to book new business at each property.
· Maintains active involvement in area industry and associations to facilitate networking opportunities for the hotel
Job Duties:
· Problem Solving- Identifies and resolves problems in a timely manner. Develops alternative solutions, uses reason at all times. Makes timely decisions while exhibiting sound judgment. Includes appropriate people in decision making process.
· Project Management – Organize, maintain and track sales data using sales pro or provided sales tracking software. Prepares weekly, monthly and annual sales reports as required. Participates in local area commercial agencies blitzes to include AAA, American Express, etc. Participates and assist in the planning of hotel based sales blitzes. Incorporates marketing opportunities into sales activities when applicable. Creates research projects to uncover new potential markets, accounts, etc.
· Customer Service –Manages difficult or emotional customer situations. Responds promptly to customer needs, requests for service and assistance. Establishes and maintains relationships with customers.
· Communication - Demonstrates group presentation skills. Speaks clearly and persuasively in positive or negative situations. Writes clearly, and has the ability to read and interpret written information. Communicates change effectively.
· Team Work – Exhibits objectivity and openness to the views of others and contributes to building a positive team spirit. Upholds organizational values, treats people with respect and promotes a harassment free environment. Works closely with company revenue manager to maximize revenue results. Works with Marketing team on a regular basis Also responsible for providing strategies for promoting the hotel through various marketing and sales related medians to key feeder markets.
· Quality Management – Aligns work with strategic goals, looking for ways to improve and promote quality while demonstrating accuracy and thoroughness. Strives to increase productivity.
· Adaptability – Able to deal with frequent change, delays or unexpected events, changing approach or method to best fit a situation.
· Initiative - Take independent actions and calculated risks, meets challenges with resourcefulness, generates suggestion for improving work and takes responsibility for own actions. Delegates work assignments, sets expectations and monitors delegated activities. Schedule and track all sales appointments ensuring the required amount of sales calls are achieved. Actively sell to in-house guests.
· People Management – Develops subordinates skills and encourages growth. Manages difficult or emotional employee situations. Provides sales training to staff of hotel as applicable. Responsible for coaching, developing and acting as a mentor.
· Compliance - Maintains confidentiality. Ensures property e-marketing plan is updated on a monthly basis
Business Acumen – Assists with developing hotels Sales and Marketing plan based on the hotels position and strength within each market segment. Responsible for knowing hotel demand segment, sources of business for each balance market segments according to supply and demand. Knows hotels principle competition for each market segment and takes advantage of each hotels strength against each competitor. Familiar with forecasted occupancy fluctuations and directs selling activities to maximize revenues. Assists in preparing individual hotel budgets that correctly reflect hotels business plan. Ensures assigned sales objectives for RevPar are met for the region
