Job Overview
We are seeking a highly motivated and technically skilled Sales Engineer to join our team and drive growth by bridging engineering expertise with customer-facing sales. This role is responsible for developing and selling custom manufacturing, fabrication, machining, and integrated industrial solutions.
The Sales Engineer serves as a trusted technical advisor, working closely with customers to understand design intent, production challenges, and performance requirements while translating those needs into manufacturable, cost-effective solutions.
This position requires the ability to collaborate cross-functionally with engineering, operations, and leadership teams to support projects from concept and quoting through production and delivery. It offers an exciting opportunity to play a key role in delivering innovative, turnkey manufacturing solutions in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
Responsibilities
- Serve as the primary contact for customers, providing expertise in manufacturing processes, fabrication, machining, and assembly capabilities.
- Review and interpret drawings, specifications, and customer requirements to develop practical, cost-effective solutions.
- Advise customers on design for manufacturability (DFM), material selection, tolerances, and production efficiencies.
- Coordinate detailed proposals, quotes, and project scopes in collaboration with engineering and estimating teams.
- Identify new business opportunities within industrial markets.
- Conduct customer site visits to assess applications, equipment, and operational needs.
- Support project handoff from sales to operations, ensuring clear communication of scope, expectations, and deliverables.
- Assist with troubleshooting, change orders, and continuous improvement initiatives during project execution.
- Maintain a structured pipeline of opportunities, actively tracking and progressing projects.
- Provide accurate sales forecasts and project updates to leadership.
- Manage multiple customer projects simultaneously, ensuring responsiveness and high levels of service.
- Support long-term account growth through ongoing customer engagement and solution expansion.
Position Requirements
- Bachelor's degree or related experience in lieu of.
- Valid driver's license and willingness to travel to customer sites.
- 3+ years of experience in manufacturing, fabrication, machining, or industrial engineering environments.
- Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, including CNC machining, welding, fabrication, and assembly.
- Ability to read and interpret complex engineering drawings, blueprints, and technical specifications.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to convey technical concepts clearly and persuasively.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a solutions-oriented mindset.
- Self-motivated, results-driven, and capable of managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Team-oriented with the ability to collaborate effectively across departments.
- Proficiency with Epicor/Kinetic and Salesforce is a plus.
