**Essential Functions**: - Must have customer service skills with the ability to interact with customers in person and over the phone. - Previous experience with a point of sale program or cash register is helpful. - Stocks shelves, counters, or tables with merchandise. - Sets up advertising displays or arranges merchandise on counters or tables to promote sales. - Stamps, marks, or tags price on merchandise. - Obtains merchandise requested by customer or receives merchandise selected by customer. - Answers customer's questions concerning location, price, and use of merchandise. - Totals price and tax on merchandise purchased by customer to determine bill. - Accepts payment and makes change. - Wraps or bags merchandise for customers. - Cleans shelves, counters, or tables. - Removes and records amount of cash in register at end of shift. - Calculates sales discount to determine price. - Standing up to 6 hours at a time. - Ensure excellent retail experience for customer. **Additional Responsibilities**: - Performs other similar or related duties as requested or assigned. This is a seasonal non-benefited position. Period of employment is from May-September. You will accrue sick leave according to AK Sick Leave Laws. Minimum Requirements Minimum Requirements Required Qualifications (education, years of experience, KSAs) - High school diploma or equivalent. - 6-12 months POS experience Preferred education and experience - 1-2 years previous experience working in fast paced retail setting. Work environment: Retail store, warehouse. Noise level is moderate. Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms. The employee is frequently required to climb or balance. The employee is occasionally required to sit; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and talk or hear. The employee must regularly lift/move objects up to ten pounds, frequently up to twenty-five pounds, occasionally up to fifty pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include distance vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception. Work authorizations: This position is not eligible for immigration sponsorship.
