Sales Associate – Firearms Retail

Full-Time Position 

About the Role

Shore Galleries is seeking an enthusiastic and responsible Sales Associate to join our team. This role combines retail sales, customer service, and compliance within a highly regulated environment. You will help customers select firearms, accessories, and related products while ensuring safe firearms handling and adherence to all state and federal regulations.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide exceptional customer service through knowledgeable, friendly, and professional interactions

• Assist customers in selecting firearms, ammunition, and accessories based on their needs

• Complete all required ATF Form 4473 and related compliance paperwork accurately

• Maintain knowledge of current Illinois FOID requirements and federal regulations

• Operate the POS system, handle transactions, and manage cash accurately

• Assist with merchandising, inventory control, and store cleanliness

• Follow all safety protocols and maintain secure handling of firearms

• Support team members and contribute to an efficient, positive work environment

Qualifications

• Valid Illinois FOID Card (required)

• High school diploma or equivalent

• Basic understanding of sales principles and customer service best practices

• Strong verbal and written communication skills

• Ability to multi-task while remaining attentive and detail-oriented

• Strong organizational skills and dependability

• Ability to work both independently and as part of a team

• Comfortable with physical activity (standing, bending, reaching) for extended periods

• Flexible availability including evenings, weekends, and holidays

Preferred Skills & Experience

• Prior retail or firearms industry experience (a plus)

• Knowledge of firearms, optics, and accessories

• Familiarity with 4473/NICS background check process

• Ability to upsell and recommend complementary products (holsters, safes, cleaning kits)

• Attention to compliance and detail-oriented mindset

Physical Demands

• Frequent standing, walking, talking, hearing, and reaching

• Occasional stooping, kneeling, or crouching

• Ability to lift up to 30 lbs
