SALES ACCOUNT MANAGER
Position Type: Direct Hire
Location: Greater Detroit Area – Remote
Salary: $80K-$90K Base + Sales Commission Structure + $600/month Vehicle Allowance + expenses
Position Overview
Our client is seeking a motivated and relationship-driven Sales Account Manager to support and grow business within the automotive manufacturing and supplier industry. This individual will serve as the primary commercial contact for customers while driving new business development, supporting quality initiatives, and expanding existing customer relationships. The ideal candidate will have experience supporting Tier 1 and Tier 2 automotive customers, along with an understanding of warehousing, sequencing, logistics, or supply chain operations within a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop a comprehensive knowledge of the company profiles, capabilities, products, business plans, and strategies
- Operate as the lead point of contact for all sales activities and commercial interface issues with customers
- Build and maintain strong customer relationships
- Generate new sales and business opportunities through existing and prospective customer accounts
- Identify new applications and opportunities for current and future customers
- Support new customer launches, account setup, and ongoing account management
- Customer & Quality Support
- Accompany Engineering and Quality personnel to internal and customer meetings to address commercial and operational issues
- Conduct facility visits at customer office and manufacturing locations
- Interface with customer quality representatives regarding quality concerns and corrective actions
- Provide on-site support, diagnostics, and professional representation for customer quality issues
- Communicate containment actions, clean points, and supporting documentation to customer teams
- Assist in negotiations and closure of identified quality concerns
- Attend customer meetings to ensure compliance with customer requirements and review quality-related issues
New Sales Target Expectations
- Year 1: $500,000 Gross Sales
- Year 2: $1.2 Million Gross Sales
- Year 3: $2.1 Million Gross Sales
New Sales Definition
“New Sales” generated solely by the Sales Account Manager. New Sales are based on Gross Sales less any bad debt or chargebacks. A “New Sale” is defined as a new customer or service that has not been invoiced within the previous rolling 12 months.
Preferred Qualifications
- Automotive industry experience preferred
- Experience supporting Tier 1 and Tier 2 automotive customers is a plus
- Background in sales, account management, customer support, quality, logistics, or manufacturing environments
- Understanding of warehousing, sequencing, logistics, or supply chain operations preferred
- Strong communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skills
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Comfortable conducting customer site visits and supporting plant-level activities
- Strong problem-solving and organizational abilities
- Ability to travel locally to customer facilities as needed
