Program Overview Salem Public Schools is seeking dedicated student-centered educators and therapists for our 2026 Extended School Year ESY program. Our mission is to provide high-quality specialized instruction in the Least Restrictive Environment (LRE) to ensure students with disabilities maintain progress and thrive during the summer months. Program Schedule & Logistics

  • Dates: July 6 - August 6, 2026
  • Days: Monday - Thursday
  • Pre-Planning: Teachers will receive 3 hours of compensation for pre-planning and classroom setup.
  • Location: Witchcraft Elementary
  • Preference: Priority is given to applicants who can commit to the full 5-week session.

Available Positions

Intensive Paraprofessionals Responsible for assisting the classroom teacher with the delivery of specialized curriculum and the implementation of student IEPs.

  • Key Duties:
  • Assist with behavior management.
  • Provide general supervision and support students social-emotional interactions throughout the school day.
  • Note: Some positions may require 1:1 support for specific students as mandated by their IEP.
  • Compensation: Paid at the Intensive Paraprofessional contract rate.

Behavior Specialists The Behavior Specialist provides essential behavioral support to the program as a whole.

  • Key Duties:
  • Work collaboratively with the BCBA, counselors, administrators, and classroom staff to ensure student safety.
  • Implement behavioral intervention plans.
  • Respond to crisis situations across the school environment.
  • Compensation: Paid at the Behavior Specialist contract rate.
