C.R. Jackson, Inc. is seeking a motivated and dependable Safety Technician Traffic Control to support our field operations and help maintain safe, efficient work zones across active construction projects. This role plays a critical part in protecting employees, subcontractors, and the traveling public through proper traffic control setup, safety compliance, and strong communication in the field.

This position is ideal for someone who enjoys working outdoors, thrives in a fast-paced construction environment, and takes pride in promoting safety and teamwork every day.

Position Summary

The Safety Technician Traffic Control will assist with implementing and monitoring company safety policies and temporary traffic control operations on heavy highway and site construction projects. Responsibilities include supporting traffic control setup and inspections, maintaining safe work zones, conducting field observations, and communicating effectively with crews, subcontractors, inspectors, and the public.

Temporary traffic control experience is preferred. The successful candidate must be able to communicate professionally and effectively with a diverse group of individuals in both field and office environments.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Assist with setup, inspection, and maintenance of temporary traffic control devices and work zones
  • Help ensure compliance with OSHA regulations, company safety policies, and project-specific safety requirements
  • Conduct daily field safety observations and report unsafe conditions or behaviors
  • Monitor active work zones to ensure safe operations for crews and the traveling public
  • Support incident reporting, corrective actions, and safety documentation
  • Coordinate with superintendents, foremen, subcontractors, and project personnel regarding safety and traffic control needs
  • Assist with employee safety orientations, toolbox talks, and training initiatives
  • Maintain communication with field personnel and inspectors in a professional and respectful manner
  • Help ensure all signs, barricades, cones, drums, and traffic control devices are properly placed and maintained
  • Promote a positive safety culture focused on accountability, teamwork, and continuous improvement
  • Travel between multiple project sites as needed

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required
  • Experience in roadway construction, traffic control, or construction safety preferred
  • Temporary Traffic Control (TTC) experience preferred
  • Knowledge of OSHA safety practices and work zone safety standards preferred
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills required
  • Ability to work effectively with a diverse workforce, project teams, and the public
  • Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions
  • Valid drivers license with acceptable driving record required
  • Ability to lift, carry, and move traffic control equipment and materials as needed
