Position Summary

The Safety Technician supports Benchmark’s safety program with a primary focus on administrative, tracking, and coordination functions related to safety operations. This role spends a limited amount of time in the field, with the majority of responsibilities centered on PPE management, vehicle and equipment safety tracking, documentation coordination, and compliance monitoring. The Safety Technician works closely with the Safety team, Operations, and the Shop to ensure safety processes are followed, documented, and completed in a timely manner. This role reports to the Senior Safety Manager and Safety Manager.Note: This position requires bilingual fluency in English and Spanish to effectively communicate safety information with a diverse workforce.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Order, organize, track, and distribute personal protective equipment (PPE) to field personnel.
• Maintain accurate PPE inventory records and ensure adequate stock levels are available.
• Monitor vehicle GPS systems to ensure devices are active, functioning, and properly assigned.
• Review GPS data to identify speeding events and other safety-related driving infractions and report findings to the Safety team.
• Print, organize, and distribute permits, safety plans, and required job documentation as needed.
• Track vehicle and equipment inspection schedules and maintain inspection records.
• Communicate inspection needs, deficiencies, and follow-up requirements with the Shop team.
• Monitor completion of vehicle and equipment repairs or corrective actions and document status updates.
• Maintain organized safety records, logs, and reports related to inspections, GPS monitoring, and PPE distribution.
• Provide administrative support to the Safety team as needed.
• Assist with safety communications in both English and Spanish.
• Spend limited time in the field to support safety verification, inspections, or audits as required.

Required Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• Agile, organized, and detail-oriented with the ability to manage multiple tracking systems.
• Strong organizational and communication skills.
• Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish (verbal and written) is required.
• Basic computer skills and experience with tracking or data-entry systems.
• Valid driver’s license with the ability to travel locally when needed.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).

Preferred Qualifications

• OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 (Construction) certification preferred.
• One to three (1–3) years of experience in construction safety, fleet operations, or administrative safety support.
• Familiarity with GPS tracking systems and vehicle safety programs.
• Strong attention to detail and follow-through skills.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
