Description
- Oversees site safety on heavy highway and civil construction projects, ensuring compliance with OSHA regulations and company safety policies.
- Conducts daily safety inspections, job hazard analyses (JHAs), and risk assessments for activities such as excavation, utility work, paving, and structural operations.
- Coordinates and enforces traffic control plans to protect workers and the public in active roadwork zones.
- Leads safety orientations, toolbox talks, and ongoing training programs for field personnel and subcontractors.
- Monitors high-risk operations involving heavy equipment, cranes, trenching, and confined spaces.
- Investigates incidents, near-misses, and injuries, identifying root causes and implementing corrective actions.
- Collaborates with project managers, engineers, and field supervisors to integrate safety into all phases of construction.
- Maintains accurate documentation, including safety reports, permits, and compliance records.
- Promotes a proactive safety culture by encouraging hazard reporting and continuous improvement on site.
