Responsibilities

Danieli is looking for a Safety Specialist to be responsible for implementing the project safety plan, working with the project team to ensure safety across all aspects of the project is a priority. Responsibilities will include conducting and developing training, participating in project meetings, and developing site specific policies as needed. This position will report to the Project Manager and the Safety Director

Tasks and Day-to-Day Activities in the role:

The Health & Safety Specialist performs a wide range of tasks to ensure machinery and equipment are properly installed and commissioned. Some of their main tasks include:

  • Administer safety training for on-site employees.
  • Maintain daily on-site safety presence and conduct audits of personnel, equipment, and materials.
  • Apply and communicate safety procedures and policies to protect employees and client.
  • Prepare accident, injury, near‑miss, and RCA reports and communicate findings to management.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory standards (OSHA, EPA, DOT, etc.).
  • Monitor and enforce safety and environmental regulations and implement required changes.
  • Conduct routine internal and external safety and compliance site inspections.
  • Implement and manage safety programs such as PTW and LOTO based on site needs.
  • Promote and uphold all safety compliance requirements for the business and its partners.
  • Maintain positive communication with customers, vendors, co‑workers, and management.
  • Model safe practices daily, including consistent PPE use and safety leadership.

Technical Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering (mechanical, industrial, systems) or environmental health & safety OR 3+ years related experience; regulatory or technical experience industrial/metalworking/steel.
  • Strong knowledge of OSHA construction regulations.
  • Leadership, teamwork, and communication abilities.
  • Ability to work safely and communicate effectively with clients, and leadership.
  • Strong interpersonal skills: ability to solve problems and adapt to varying schedules.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks with minimal supervision.
  • Able show proficiency in teamwork and work ethic.
