MISSION:

JOB SUMMARY:
Responsible for enforcing and maintaining the contract safety program at Kennedy Space Center (KSC). This position ensures all personnel follow all safety standards, conduct inspections, manage incident response, and maintains training and safety records. Must maintain a professional and objective approach, enforce compliance consistently, and provide second shift support as required.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
SAFETY PROGRAM MANAGEMENT
- Enforces OSHA, NASA, KNPR (Kennedy NASA Procedural Requirements), and KSC safety directives.
- Exercises authority to identify hazards, issue safety discrepancies, and initiate Stop Work actions when imminent risks exist.
- Escalates unresolved safety issues to management.
- Conducts inspections and ensures all inspections are completed within established deadlines, including proper documentation and follow-up actions.
- Ensures the provision, availability, and proper maintenance of personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Provides a minimum of two (2) days per month second shift safety coverage.
MISHAP PREVENTION, REPORTING, AND INVESTIGATION
- Leads incident response including immediate reporting, scene control, and hazard mitigation in accordance with Performance Work Statement (PWS) requirements.
- Conducts or supports investigations and implements corrective actions.
- Ensures data is entered and tracked in NMIS (NASA Mishap Information System) until closure.
- Reports safety performance trends to management.
RECORDS MANAGEMENT & DOCUMENTATION
- Maintains complete, accurate and current safety and training records.
- Serves as the contract safety representative for Damage Assessment and Recovery Team (DART) activities, and is required to respond, report, and support damage assessment, documentation, and recovery coordination efforts following incidents affecting personnel, facilities, or operations.
- Represents the contract safety program by attending and actively participating in all required NASA and BAC safety meetings.
SAFETY CULTURE & PROFESSIONAL CONDUCT
- Develops and delivers daily safety topics to reinforce hazard awareness, safe work practices, and regulatory compliance across the workforce.
- Plans, coordinates, and conducts monthly safety meetings.
- Facilitates the monthly Tiger Team safety meetings, collaborating with designated employees to identify risks, addressing recurring issues, and implement continuous improvement actions.
- Maintains professional, impartial and objective interactions with employees, management, customers and other stakeholders.
- Demonstrates objective decision-making and sound judgment.
- Conducts difficult conversations and enforces accountability in a professional and consistent manner
ADDITIONAL DUTIES:
- Performs other duties as assigned to support contract operations, which may include custodial support when operationally required.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY:
- This position has no formal supervisory responsibility.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Must have two (2) years prior experience in safety or related experience.
- Must pass a pre-employment drug test.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite including Word, Outlook, Excel, and Share Point.
- Ability to obtain and maintain any required clearance and access approvals to work at Kennedy Space Center.
- Must have a valid Florida Driver’s License and clean driving record that meets BAC MVR requirements.
- Must possess an OSHA 10-Hour General Industry training card or have the ability to obtain one within 90 days of employment from an OSHA authorized provider.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- 2 years of leadership or safety oversight experience.
- Experience with OSHA Voluntary Protection Programs (VPP) requirements.
- Experience with NASA Mishap Information System (NIMS) reporting.

CERTIFICATIONS, LICENSES and REGISTRATIONS:
- OSHA 10-Hour General Industry.
- HAZMAT certified or other safety certifications deemed appropriate.
TRAVEL:
No overnight or out-of-area travel is expected for this position. Local movement within KSC will be required to support inspections, meetings, incident response and contract operations.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Requirements will vary depending on the assigned tasks. This position does require the following: repetitive lifting, push/pull, carrying, walking, climbing, squatting, kneeling and prolonged standing. Will involve lifting/moving up to 40 pounds. These requirements can be met with or without reasonable accommodations.
SAFETY AND ENVIRONMENTAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Work is regularly performed in both climate-controlled areas and areas that have no air conditioning or heat with possible exposure to adverse environmental conditions (e.g., dirt, heat, cold, rain, fumes).
- Will need to use any personal protective equipment (PPE) as designated properly and consistently.
- Required inoculations, safety training, and all other trainings provided by BAC and Kennedy Space Center.
SENSORY REQUIREMENTS:
