Here's the Role:

We are seeking a Safety Specialist II to join LCRA’s Safety Services Group- Transmission Operations team. In this position, you will function as a liaison between field workers, management, contractors, and our customers to provide continuous improvements in safety. We are looking for someone who will be an advocate for the Safety Services Transmission Group while actively integrating safety knowledge and practices into the daily work of LCRA employees. We are a team that thrives on identifying practical safety solutions for our organization and are committed to improving safety processes within the LCRA organization. 

How You’ll Contribute:
  • Serve as a trusted safety partner to Transmission Operations teams by promoting proactive risk prevention and continuous improvement across field operations.
  • Lead safety training, orientations, and compliance initiatives while maintaining accurate training and reporting documentation.
  • Conduct field inspections, audits, and incident investigations to strengthen workplace safety, regulatory compliance, and operational excellence.
  • Collaborate with employees, contractors, and leadership to develop and implement practical safety solutions, procedures, and operational standards.
  • Support critical infrastructure projects by developing safety plans and traveling to substations, power plants, and other operational sites as needed.
How You’re Qualified:
  • Six or more years of experience in safety and health, utility safety to include water, gas operations, energy generation, electric utility transmission and distribution operations or other relevant experience. Experience must include at least two or more years of direct safety team experience within an organization to include experience with administration, oversight or applying work safety practices, policies and procedures. Experience must include at least three years of experience with ANSI, OSHA 1910/1926.269, IEEE C95.6-2002, DOT standards and applicable work practices and safety policies.
  • A degree(s) in industrial maintenance, electrical systems, occupational safety and health, public health or related field may be substituted per LCRA guidelines for certain years of experience.
  • Driver's license
How You’ll Stand Out:
  • Prior experience in an electric utility safety training or compliance role including providing mentorship, leadership or formal/informal instruction to operational staff.
