Position Information

Position Title Safety Monitor Department Office of Campus Police Responsibilities

  • Conduct building checks of the interior of the building to include hallways, classrooms,

and areas not accessible to the public for any potential hazards. As well, to conduct

checks of parking lot areas for any potential road hazards.

  • Staff the main lobby desk to have someone present to provide basic customer service. To

answer general questions related to the building or Jefferson College from students,

employees, and visitors.

  • Maintain a professional, approachable, and service oriented presence at all times.
  • Observe and report any safety hazards, facility issues, or potential college policy

violations to the Director of JCA or their designee.

  • Observer and report any suspicious activity to the on-duty officer.
  • Call 911 for all emergency incidents (i.e. Fire, EMS, assaults in progress, etc.) and then

notify the on-duty officer of the incident.

  • Document observations and incidents as directed, including preparing written witness

statements that may be needed by JCPD for reporting purposes.

  • Follow all Jefferson College policies related to safety, communication, and

confidentiality.

  • Participate in any training that maybe required related to building operations.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned by the Police Supervisor or Chief of Police.

This position will primarily support the Jefferson College Arnold Campus.

Qualifications

  • Must be enrolled as a Jefferson College student.
  • Be in good academic standing.
  • Strong communication skills, including the ability to interact courteously with diverse

individuals.

  • Ability to remain observant, alert, and attentive during building checks and desk assignments.
  • Ability to follow instructions, adhere to procedures, and work independently with minimal

supervision.

  • Professional demeanor and willingness to represent the College positively.
  • Must be reliable, punctual, and able to maintain confidentiality.

Hourly Wage Minimum wage Status Other FLSA Non-Exempt Desired Schedule Mon-Fri during the academic year. Mon-Thurs during the summer Total Hours Per Week Hours are to be determined, not to exceed 19.5 hours per week. Semester Needed Fall, Spring, Summer Location Arnold Preference College Payroll
