Safety Manager

General Description

n

The Safety Manager is responsible for the Administration of Safety policies and procedures for VINCI Construction USA. This position provides support for field operations.

n

n

Key Duties

n

n

  • Regulatory n

n

  • Studies, communicates, and works with the operations team to address OSHA, MSHA, ANSI, and NFPA, etc. regulation changes n
  • Provides input into Company Policy and Safety Procedure Changes n
  • Assists with Audit and Compliance Reviews for Local BUs n

n

  • Safety Action Plan (SAP) Audit Administration n

n

  • Conducts SAP meetings as outlined n
  • Shares Company-wide information n
  • Audits Safety Paperwork n
  • Shares audit information with those involved (through the President), and ensure the audit is filed in SAP Folder and the score is recorded. n

n

n

n

  • Site Safety Visit (SSV) Administrationn

n

  • Conducts SSVxe2x80x99s as outlined, meeting with all Superintendents on the rotation at least 1 time/ month. n
  • Corrects findings through problem solving and discussion with the team. n
  • Shares findings with those involved (through the President), and ensure the audit is filed in the folder and the score is recorded. n

n n

  • Plant Auditsn

n

  • Develops and conducts Plant Audits, as outlined n
  • Develops and conducts MSHA Audits, as outlined n

n n

  • Drug and Alcohol Testing (DOT and Non-DOT)n

n

  • Ensuring employees selected from the consortium complete their random DT n

n n

  • Trainingn

n

  • Develops and conducts Safety Training, or organizes outside vendors for training, when required n
  • Ensure Regulatory Training is current and the information is tracked in Kheops n
  • Coordinates with local BU for completion n
  • Drafts, distributes, and audits Quarterly Refreshers and Safety Alerts n
  • Relays exceptions and addresses concerns, when applicable n

  • Supports Field Operationsn

n

  • Assists with safety concerns, process implementation, and questions n
  • Engages employees at all levels of the organization n
  • Develops knowledge and continuously improves culture n
  • Assists the operations team with investigating incidents as well as developing and implementing best practices to prevent similar incidents n

n n

  • Focus Programsn

n

  • Plans and organizes International Safety Day n

n n

n

n

n

  • Provides guidance to applicable Safety Improvement Teams and Safety Committees n

n

n

n

Qualification Requirements

n

n

  • General. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each duty satisfactorily.   • Education and Experience. This position is not an entry-level job in the Construction Safety Field. n

n

  • An undergraduate degree in Occupational Health and Safety or related equivalent is required. n
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience as a Safety Manager or comparable role. n
  • Knowledge of construction safety/current Federal and OSHA requirements is required. n
  • Working field knowledge including: Heavy Highway and Bridge Construction, Crane Operations, Asphalt Plant and Lay down Activities, along with various other grade and utility construction preferred. n
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office, PowerPoint, and computer database functions. n
  • Effective writing and communication skills required. n
  • Valid driverxe2x80x99s license and satisfactory driving record required. n
  • Certification as a Safety Professional is a plus. n
  • Demonstrated performance as a safety professional (professional memberships and/or certifications), ability to converse in basic Spanish, and applicable field experience outside the safety profession will be highly considered. n

n

  • Physical Demands. The following physical demands are representative of those that must be met by a Safety Supervisor to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. n

n

  • Must have the ability to carry out duties in varying work environments including wide ranging weather conditions and terrain. n
  • Regularly required to sit and/or stand during a regular work shift of at least eight hours per day. n
  • Employee is occasionally required to stoop, bend, walk, crouch, and climb. n
  • Ability to lift, on a frequent basis, at least 25 pounds and carry up to 15 pounds. n
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. n
  • Continuous mental attention required to complete tasks in an efficient manner. n

  • Work Environment. The work environment characteristics described below are representative of those that a Safety Supervisor encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. n

  • Work is performed indoors (office setting) and outdoors (construction and asphalt sites). n
  • Must have the ability to carry out duties in varying work environments including wide ranging weather conditions and terrain. n
