Project Scope
The Safety Manager will support a self-performed concrete contractor on a large-scale commercial office construction project. This role is focused on ensuring compliance with all site safety requirements while actively engaging with field crews and supervision to promote a strong safety culture.
The position will oversee daily safety operations related to concrete activities, including formwork, reinforcing steel, pours, and associated equipment and site logistics. The Safety Manager will be expected to be highly visible in the field, proactive in hazard identification, and consistent in enforcing safety standards.
This is a hands-on role requiring practical construction safety experience, particularly within concrete operations, and the ability to work extended hours in an active jobsite environment.
Qualifications
OSHA 30 certification
3-5 years of construction safety experience
Proven experience supporting concrete construction operations
Experience on commercial construction projects
Additional Requirements
Ability to work 50+ hours per week
Willingness to work Saturdays if project demands
Local to the Chattanooga, TN area (no per diem provided)
Strong field presence and communication skills
Key Responsibilities
- Enforce site-specific safety policies and OSHA regulations
- Conduct daily safety walks and job hazard analyses
- Support concrete crews with safe work planning and execution
- Lead toolbox talks and safety meetings
- Investigate incidents and near misses
- Maintain safety documentation and reports
- Coordinate with project leadership to address safety concerns
