Safety & Health Specialist
Summary:
Seeking a Safety & Health Specialist to support overall workplace safety initiatives and compliance programs. The role focuses on promoting an injury-free environment, implementing safety improvements, and ensuring adherence to applicable health and safety standards within a manufacturing setting.
Core Responsibilities:
Support compliance with all applicable safety and occupational health regulations.
Conduct internal safety audits, analyze findings, and recommend corrective actions.
Collect, organize, and maintain safety-related data and training records.
Assist in the development and maintenance of safety programs such as lockout/tagout, hazard communication, ergonomics, machine guarding, emergency response, and respiratory protection.
Deliver safety training sessions for new hires and current employees.
Participate in investigations of workplace incidents and near misses.
Identify and address unsafe acts or conditions proactively.
Maintain accurate documentation of inspections, audits, and training activities.
Collaborate with environmental staff to ensure cross-functional safety coverage.
Key Skills:
Strong understanding of OSHA standards (29 CFR 1910) and state-level safety requirements.
Skilled in safety data management, recordkeeping, and regulatory reporting.
Proficient in MS Office tools (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
Effective communication and presentation skills across all organizational levels.
Ability to analyze risk and promote a culture of continuous improvement in workplace safety.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Occupational Safety, Environmental Engineering, Industrial Hygiene, or a related discipline.
Prior experience in a safety or environmental role within a manufacturing environment preferred.
