This role is responsible for overseeing jobsite safety, safety training, compliance, incident reporting, tool and equipment management, fleet safety, and continuous improvement of company safety standards.
The ideal candidate is a strong communicator, a field-focused leader, and someone who can build trust with project managers, foremen, apprentices, technicians, and company leadership. This person will help create a culture where safety is not just a requirement, but a daily standard of how we operate.
Oversee, maintain, and continuously improve Staley Electric’s safety policies, procedures, and field expectations. Conduct regular jobsite safety audits, inspections, and observations. Identify hazards, recommend corrective actions, and follow through to ensure resolution. Partner with project managers, foremen, and field leadership to promote safe work practices. Lead incident investigations and help determine root causes, corrective actions, and prevention strategies. Monitor and report safety performance metrics, trends, and areas needing improvement.
Ensure compliance with OSHA, NFPA 70E, company policies, customer requirements, and applicable federal, state, and local safety regulations. Maintain accurate safety records, training documentation, inspection reports, incident reports, and compliance files. Support prequalification requirements, customer safety documentation, and project-specific safety plans. Prepare and submit required safety reports to leadership, customers, or regulatory agencies as needed. Assist with OSHA inspections, customer audits, insurance reviews, and internal compliance reviews.
Develop, schedule, coordinate, and deliver safety training for employees at all levels. Training areas may include OSHA standards, electrical safety, NFPA 70E, fall protection, ladder safety, lockout/tagout, PPE, equipment operation, fleet safety, tool safety, first aid/CPR, and jobsite hazard awareness. Conduct new-hire safety orientation and support onboarding for field employees. Track employee certifications and ensure renewals are completed on time. Promote practical, field-relevant training that improves safe behavior and jobsite awareness.
Oversee company tool and equipment safety processes, including inspection, accountability, condition tracking, and proper use. Work with field leaders to ensure tools and equipment are maintained, inspected, and removed from service when unsafe or damaged. Support organization and documentation of company-owned tools, safety equipment, PPE, and related inventory. Help develop standards for tool checkout, return, replacement, repair, and loss prevention.
Oversee fleet safety practices, vehicle inspections, driver expectations, and company vehicle compliance. Monitor vehicle inspection reports, driver behavior, maintenance needs, and safety concerns. Help manage driver qualification files, motor vehicle record checks, insurance requirements, and related documentation. Coordinate with leadership and vendors on vehicle maintenance, repairs, safety equipment, and compliance items. Lead fleet safety training and reinforce expectations for responsible vehicle use.
Serve as a resource and coach for field employees, foremen, project managers, and leadership. Communicate safety expectations clearly and consistently. Build relationships in the field that encourage reporting, accountability, and continuous improvement. Represent Staley Electric professionally with customers, general contractors, inspectors, and vendors. Help lead safety meetings, toolbox talks, stand-downs, and company-wide safety initiatives.
Minimum of 3–5 years of safety experience, preferably in construction, electrical, industrial, or commercial contracting. Strong knowledge of OSHA standards and construction safety requirements. Experience with electrical safety and NFPA 70E preferred. OSHA 30 certification required or ability to obtain within a defined period. OSHA 500 a plus. CPR/First Aid certification preferred. CHST, CSP, ASP, or similar safety certification is a plus. Experience managing safety documentation, incident reports, training records, audits, and compliance processes. Ability to conduct effective training for field and office personnel. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. Comfortable using technology for reporting, tracking, inspections, documentation, and communication. Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record required.
The right person for this role will be field-oriented and comfortable visiting active construction sites; firm but fair when enforcing safety expectations; a strong communicator who can teach, coach, and hold people accountable; organized enough to manage documentation, reports, tools, fleet items, and training schedules; proactive instead of reactive; respected by field teams because they understand the work and focus on practical solutions; and committed to helping Staley Electric protect its people, customers, equipment, and reputation.
Regular travel to jobsites, offices, vendors, and customer locations is required. Must be able to walk active construction sites, climb stairs or ladders as needed, inspect work areas, and wear required PPE. Some work may occur outdoors, in active construction environments, or around electrical systems and equipment.
Competitive compensation based on experience, company vehicle or vehicle allowance depending on company policy, health, dental, and vision benefits, retirement plan options, paid time off, professional development and certification support, and the opportunity to lead and shape the safety culture of a growing electrical contractor.
