Safety Director / Compliance Manager

CBIZ Talent Solutions is working with our transportation and logistics client seeking a Safety Director / Compliance professional to lead and manage all safety programs, regulatory compliance, and risk mitigation efforts across operations. This individual will play a critical role in ensuring adherence to DOT, FMCSA, OSHA, and other applicable regulations while fostering a strong culture of safety. This position can be located near Commack NY, North Lauderdale, FL or Anaheim, CA.

Key Responsibilities:

• Oversee and manage all safety and compliance programs for drivers, fleet, and operations
• Ensure full compliance with DOT, FMCSA, OSHA, and local/state regulations
• Develop, implement, and maintain safety policies, procedures, and training programs
• Monitor driver logs, Hours of Service (HOS), ELD compliance, and vehicle maintenance records
• Lead internal audits, compliance reviews, and prepare for external inspections
• Investigate accidents and incidents; implement corrective actions and preventative strategies
• Manage driver qualification files, onboarding, and ongoing compliance documentation
• Track and report key safety metrics, including CSA scores and incident trends
• Serve as the primary point of contact for regulatory agencies and safety-related inquiries
• Partner with leadership to improve overall safety performance and reduce risk exposure

Qualifications:

• 5+ years of safety and compliance experience within transportation, logistics, or trucking industry
• Strong knowledge of DOT, FMCSA, OSHA, and related regulatory requirements
• Experience managing driver compliance programs and fleet safety operations
• Familiarity with ELD systems, HOS regulations, and CSA scoring
• Proven ability to implement and improve safety programs and policies
• Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills
• Ability to train and influence employees at all levels of the organization

Preferred Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Safety, Transportation, Logistics, or related field
• Safety certifications (e.g., CSP, CDS, or similar) a plus
• Experience in multi-site or regional transportation operations

Compensation & Benefits:

• Competitive salary range: $100,000 – $125,000
