Key Requirements:- Must have experience in shipyard, industrial or maritime safety
- Working knowledge of OSHA 29 CFR 1915(shipyard employment) and 29 CFR 1910(General Industry)
- CPR/First Aid Certifications are required
- Respirator Fit Test Certification or the ability to obtain one
- Strong Verbal and written Communication Skills; ability to lead by example
- Shipyard experience is a plus .
- Enforce compliance with all company safety policies, OSHA and Maritime Safety standards.
- Conduct daily Safety inspections of the yard, vessels, dry dock, and shop areas.
- Monitor employee work practices to identify and correct unsafe acts or conditions.
- Ensure proper completion of Hot Work, Confined space and Energy Control Permits
- Serves as an active member of the emergency response team for incidents involving fire, Medical emergencies, spills or confined space rescue
- Maintain readiness of emergency response equipment(first aid kits, Fire extinguishers, rescues devices, eyewash stations, and alarms)
- Conduct or assist with New Hire safety orientation and job specific Safety briefings
- Provide hands on instructions on PPE use, Hazard Communication, Confined space entry, and lockout/tagout.
- Preform respirator fit testing and maintain documentation in compliance with OSHA
- Assist with Rigging operations, Ensuring proper communication Between riggers, signal persons and crane/forklift operators
