Safety Coordinator (Full-Time)
The Medina County Board of Commissioners is accepting applications for a full-time Safety Coordinator within the Human Resources Department. GENERAL DESCRIPTION
The Safety Coordinator reports directly to the Loss Control/Risk Manager and works in coordination with the Loss Control/Risk Manager and Human Resources Director. This
position is responsible for supporting the occupational health and safety functions of the Medina County Sanitary Department.
Working under general supervision, the Safety Coordinator assists in the development, implementation, administration, and continuous improvement of County safety programs, policies, and procedures. Responsibilities include monitoring regulatory compliance, conducting inspections, coordinating employee safety training, assisting with incident investigations, maintaining required documentation and records, and recommending corrective actions to minimize workplace hazards and reduce risk.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Coordinate with management to develop, implement, review, and maintain safety programs and written safety plans in accordance with OSHA, PERRP, and other applicable local, state, and federal regulations.
Assist in monitoring County operations, facilities, and work sites to ensure compliance with occupational health and safety laws, regulations, and best practices.
Conduct routine inspections of County buildings, facilities, equipment, job sites, and contractor operations to identify hazards and verify compliance with established safety standards.
Evaluate equipment, tools, machinery, and work practices to ensure they are maintained and operated in a safe manner.
Prepare written inspection reports and communicate findings, recommendations, and corrective action plans to supervisors and management to support timely resolution of identified hazards.
Coordinate and conduct employee safety training required by OSHA, PERRP, and other regulatory agencies while maintaining accurate training records and documentation.
Participate in departmental safety committees and collaborate with employees and management to promote a positive and proactive safety culture.
Assist with documenting workplace accidents, injuries, vehicle incidents, and near-miss events through interviews, photographs, incident reports, and supporting documentation.
Enter incident information into the County's incident management system and prepare reports for management review and regulatory compliance.
Assist with OSHA/PERRP recordkeeping requirements, annual reporting, and regulatory compliance activities.
Attend professional development opportunities, conferences, and safety training programs throughout the State of Ohio to remain current with changing regulations and industry best practices.
Perform other related duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Associate degree in Business, Communications, Insurance, Occupational Safety, or a related field preferred.
OSHA certification(s) preferred.
Minimum of two (2) years of experience in occupational health and safety, loss control, risk management, or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to perform the essential functions of the position.
Experience working in county or other public sector government is preferred.
Working knowledge of OSHA regulations, PERRP requirements, accident investigation techniques, safety training methods, and regulatory recordkeeping is preferred.
Strong verbal, written, organizational, and interpersonal communication skills.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and the ability to prepare reports and maintain accurate records.
Valid Ohio Driver's License with an acceptable driving record.
Proof of current automobile insurance.
HOURS OF EMPLOYMENT
Monday - Friday
8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. Additional hours as needed.

PAY RANGE
$28.99 - $34.94 per hour
Starting compensation is commensurate with qualifications and experience.
