Role Mission:The Safety Compliance Manager works with the Managing Director of Safety and Security to maintain a safe and secure learning environment by interpreting, operationalizing, and enforcing all local, state, and federal safety and security compliance regulations across all IDEA regions.

Location:This is a full-time (remote/on-site) position based in (Texas) with preference given to candidates who live in Austin, El Paso, Houston, Permian Basin (Midland/Odessa), Rio Grande Valley, San Antonio, and Tarrant County (Fort Worth), or who are willing to relocate.

 

Travel Expectations:40-50% to various regions and schools for on-site support and in-field work.

 

 

What You’ll Do – Accountabilities

 

Essential Duties:

  • Monitors, interprets, and translates all school safety legislation and state rules to help turn them into actionable district policies, campus support resources, and procedures.  
  • Manages and analyzes district-wide safety compliance dashboards, including safety drill completion and weekly exterior door audits, to ensure 100% state and district compliance.  
  • Manages the quarterly review, revision, and maintenance of all campus-level Reunification Plans. 
  • Ensures audit rubrics are continuously updated to reflect all state compliance requirements, and manages campus corrective action planning.  
  • Creates, manages, and tracks the completion of select required safety training materials for staff and Campus Crisis Teams, including legally mandated school safety trainings.  
  • Supports the coordination of district-level Safety and Security Committee partnerships, meetings, and state-level compliance requirements. 

 

Additional Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Develops and maintains a library of compliance resources, toolkits, and best-practice guides to support campus leaders in implementing safety protocols. 
  • Supports the management of the Safety & Security HUB resources to ensure all campuses are aligned and compliant. 
  • Flexibility and a willingness to take on new tasks as the responsibilities of the position evolve.

Required Education and Experience:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree required; FEMA NIMS/ICS certification required. 
  • Experience: 6+ years of experience in education or safety compliance required. 
  • Experience: 4+ years of in a school/district leadership or school safety-related role required. 

 

Preferred Education and Experience:

  • Master’s degree preferred. 
  • Experience with emergency management preferred. 

 

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to travel to various regions and schools for on-site support and in-field work (up to 40-50%). 
  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods during campus safety audits and walkthroughs. 
  • Ability to sit for extended periods for data analysis, EOP development, and resource creation.

Compensation & Benefits:

Salaries for people entering this role typically fall between $74,764 and $87,100, commensurate with relevant experience and qualifications and in alignment with internal equity.This role is also eligible forperformance pay based on organizational performance and goal attainment.
