Position Overview

Kaiser Transport is seeking a Safety & Compliance Claims Supervisor to join our Safety & Compliance team. This role is responsible for managing the full lifecycle of freight, cargo, and related claims-from initial incident intake and documentation through investigation, resolution, and reporting.

Working under the direction of the Safety & Compliance Department Manager, this position plays a key role in protecting the company from financial risk, ensuring regulatory compliance, and maintaining strong customer relationships.

This is a hands-on, detail-driven role that requires strong organization, follow-through, and the ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities

Claims & Incident Management

Manage daily incident intake and serve as the primary point of contact for incident reporting

Investigate and evaluate freight, cargo, and related claims

Gather documentation including statements, photos, and supporting evidence

Work with other departments to determine cause, scope, and estimated value of loss or damage

Track claims through resolution and ensure timely follow-up

Coordination & Communication

Coordinate with drivers, internal teams, carriers, and insurance providers

Communicate proactively with customers regarding claim status and updates

Support resolution of liability issues and claim-related disputes

Maintain professional relationships while facilitating efficient outcomes

Compliance & Administrative Support

Support internal audits and ELD compliance activities

Assist with workers' compensation claims administration and documentation

Maintain accurate, audit-ready safety and compliance records

Support vendor coordination and insurance-related functions

Reporting & Continuous Improvement

Maintain claim logs and generate reports on claim activity and trends

Identify process improvement opportunities and recommend enhancements

Support the development and implementation of safety and compliance processes

Additional Responsibilities

Participate in a rotating on-call schedule for after-hours and weekend incident support

Ensure prompt, accurate, and professional communication across all interactions

Qualifications

Required Skills & Abilities

Strong attention to detail with a high level of accuracy

Excellent organizational and time management skills

Strong communication skills (verbal and written)

Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment

Analytical thinking and problem-solving ability

Ability to handle sensitive information with professionalism and confidentiality

Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook)

Preferred Experience

Experience in transportation, logistics, safety, or claims handling

Familiarity with DOT, FMCSA, or regulatory compliance concepts

Experience working with claims, insurance processes, or investigations

Education

High School Diploma or GED required

Bachelor's degree preferred (not required)

Work Environment

This position operates in a trucking terminal environment, including office, yard, and shop areas. Employees should be comfortable working in a high-traffic setting with exposure to noise, equipment, and varying weather conditions.
