As we continue to grow, we are seeking a responsible and detail-oriented professional to join our team as a Manufacturing Team Leader (MTL) in our Lawrence, KS location.
The Manufacturing Team Leader will take guidance and direction from the Operations Manager and will provide support for all daily manufacturing functions within their area of assignment. This person will, in turn, provide guidance and influence performance for departmental supervisors and hourly team members on multiple shifts. This person would also assist manufacturing support resources with the planning, directing, and efficient layout of equipment and flow of materials, reinforce expectations for manufacturing performance, volume, and quality goals, utilizing appropriate staffing levels.
Shift
The most important activities performed by the Manufacturing Team Leader include:
- Supporting compliance with and ensuring Health & Safety regulations are adhered to.
- Supporting compliance with and ensuring Quality and Environmental standards and all other Company policies and procedures are adhered to.
- Driving improved performance and efficiency for all manufacturing-based initiatives, including safety, quality, delivery, cost, morale, cost reduction, scrap reduction, communication, housekeeping, team member evaluation, training, staffing levels, and associate pay.
- Supporting and promoting our Lean Vision and ensuring full participation and adherence to our Continuous Improvement Initiatives.
Essential Accountabilities
The Manufacturing Team Leader must possess the following essential accountabilities:
- Ability to problem-solve and do root cause analysis.
- Takes an active role in Team Member development.
- Able to fill in and assist in Operations Managers role when required.
- Assumes other duties as assigned by leadership.

Physical Requirements
The Manufacturing Team Leader must be able to:
- Lift 45 lbs. unassisted with or without reasonable accommodation occasionally, including overhead. Lifting of more than 45 lbs. requires team lifting of at least 2 people.
- Occasionally required to lift, carry, push, or pull objects ranging from 45 lbs. to 80 lbs. Weights over 45 lbs. require teamwork of at least 2 people.
- Must be able to stand or walk for extended periods of time (8-12 hours daily).
- Must be able to move about the manufacturing floor safely and efficiently.
- Bending, kneeling, crouching, climbing stairs, and/or ladders may be required for specific work tasks.
- Ability to perform tasks that require using hands, wrists, and fingers.
- Ability to work in loud, fast-paced industrial environments.
- Manual dexterity and hand-to-eye coordination with handpower tools.
- Mathematical and measuring skills required for quality checks and basic equipment adjustments - equivalent to that of a carpenter or mechanic.
- Frequent work in tight and confined spaces.
- Frequent use of ladders and work in high spaces.
- Frequent use of computer keyboards, tablets, and/or scanners may be required for specific work tasks.
- Must be able to work in hot and cold environments.
Minimum Qualifications Required
The Manufacturing Team Leader must possess the following minimum qualifications:
- Education: BSBA Degree or equivalent experience.
- Experience: Three to five years of experience gained through supervision in multiple settings, departments, plants, etc., and/or through advanced college training in business management.
- Knowledge: Must be capable of working with cross-functional resources.
- Skills: Ability to perform the planning, directing, reporting, and administrative responsibilities of this position.
- Mechanical aptitude is necessary, although an understanding of technical details is not essential.
- Above-average computer aptitude.
- Mathematical skills to calculate financial, accounting, and inventory control are required.
