RPR / Construction Inspector

As an RPR / Construction Inspector, you will provide on-site representation during the construction of municipal water and wastewater infrastructure projects. Your role involves observing field activities, monitoring progress and quality, and maintaining accurate documentation throughout each project.

Responsibilities

• Remain on the job site daily throughout active construction.
• Conduct on-site observations to ensure contractor work aligns with plans, specifications, and contract documents.
• Maintain detailed daily reports, logs, markups, and other project documentation.
• Review and track progress schedules, shop drawings, samples, and contractor submittals.
• Attend preconstruction, progress, and coordination meetings with the contractor and engineer.
• Support job site safety programs and follow required protocols.
• Review contractor pay applications and verify quantities.
• Coordinate with the assigned engineer and communicate field issues, recommending solutions as appropriate.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Essential Skills

• Professional experience in the construction and/or construction inspection of wet utility systems.
• Ability to read and interpret civil construction plans and specifications.
• Strong computer skills, including proficiency in Excel, Word, Outlook, and construction reporting software.
• Willingness and ability to travel to project sites and stay overnight as needed.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Wet utility construction inspection experience with a civil consulting firm.
• Experience from the construction contractor side or with INDOT construction inspection.
• Experience in pressure testing, hydrostatic testing, air testing, leak testing, chlorination & de-chlorination, vacuum testing, or mandrel testing.
• RPRs or Construction Inspectors with water/wastewater utilities inspection experience.
• Construction Foremen, Leads, or Managers with 5+ years in wet utilities or treatment plant construction.

Work Environment

The work environment involves travel to various project sites, with overnight travel common depending on project location. Inspectors are reimbursed for mileage and per diem expenses, and lodging is provided when necessary. Standard construction hours are from 7:00 AM to 4:00 PM, with potential for overtime during peak periods. The role requires managing one project at a time, offering high ownership and autonomy. Inspectors collaborate directly with engineers from design through construction, making a meaningful impact on local communities and critical infrastructure.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Fort Wayne, IN.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $40.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
