Job Overview The Routing Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the efficient processing of daily routes and deliveries using RoadNet and other routing systems. The supervisor monitors key metrics such as delivery accuracy, fleet safety, and DOT compliance while providing feedback to Operations and Transportation Leadership based on performance data. The position will use KPIs to drive cost-effective routing through analysis, coaching, and developing their direct reports.

Job Responsibilities Core Responsibilities

  • Oversight of the creation and adjustment of daily delivery routes using RoadNet and other routing systems, ensuring all routing is compliant with DOT regulations and company safety standards.
  • Collaborate with the Routing Optimization team to conduct post-route analysis to compare planned versus actual performance and identify optimization strategies.
  • Support the development of backhaul strategies and assist in identifying cost-saving opportunities through partnership with the Inbound Logistics team.
  • Ensure customer profiles and route information in routing software and WMS platforms is accurate and up to date.
  • Review Whole Foods NCG Vitamin Cottage Report and verify planning within customer requirements.
  • Collaborate with Operations, Transportation, and Customer Service teams to align routing plans with business needs and customer expectations.
  • Track and report key routing metrics including route efficiency, on-time delivery, delivery accuracy, fuel usage, and driver performance.
  • Provide coaching and feedback to Transportation teams based on route performance analysis.
  • Supervise and support routing staff including scheduling, training, and ensuring work is completed accurately and on time.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Participate in the hiring and performance evaluation of the Solution Route Planning team.
  • Act as coverage for day-to-day route planning as needed.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements Experience

  • 3-5 years of routing experience, dispatch, or logistics experience, preferably in a supervisory role.
  • Proficiency in routing software such as RoadNet, PeopleNet, WMS.
  • Strong working knowledge of DOT regulations and fleet operations.

  • Highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

  • Must be proficient in the use of Microsoft Office including Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.

Work Environment Onsite Role

  • This position requires the associate to perform all duties at one of our UNFI locations such as a distribution center or office.

Travel

  • Minor: This position may require the associate to travel to company offices, distribution centers, or other locations for specific meetings or other business reasons.

Physical Environment Demands Office Roles

  • Most work is performed in a temperature-controlled office environment.
  • Incumbent may sit for long periods of time at a desk or computer terminal.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, use hands to finger, handle, or feel, reach with hands and arms, and talk or hear.
  • Incumbent may use calculators, keyboards, telephones, and other office equipment in the course of a normal workday.
  • Stooping, bending, twisting, and reaching may be required in the completion of job duties.

Warehouse Roles

  • Ability to lift up to 75 pounds and to stand, walk, bend, stoop, twist, and turn frequently.
  • Exposed to temperatures ranging from -20 degrees below zero to 35 degrees Fahrenheit in Perishable Operation and 37 degrees to 90 degrees Fahrenheit in Grocery Operation.
  • Ability to do repetitious arm, wrist, and hand movements required for maintenance and service procedures.
  • Must be able to work with hands and arms overhead and to work in or under the equipment.
  • Requires manual dexterity, overall coordination, and good balance to work both at ground level and in high places to perform job duties. Ability to operate work-related equipment.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

After the introductory period as a 100% commission-based role, there is no set salary. UNFIs commission plans are uncapped and average earnings vary depending on territory and sales achieved among other factors.
