The Route Driver is responsible for representing Spee Dee Delivery Service, Inc. while making deliveries and picking up freight. This position requires working Monday to Friday from 7:30 AM until the completion of the route, with the possibility of 10-15 hours of overtime each week. The starting wage ranges from $20.00 to $24.00 per hour, depending on experience, with additional pay for overtime. The role includes various responsibilities such as inspecting the vehicle, loading packages, and maintaining a professional appearance.Responsibilities
- Deliver and pick up freight in a timely manner from customers and shippers
- Inspect and report any mechanical problems with the vehicle
- Load the truck in an organized manner to effectively use space and prevent damage to packages
- Verify the content of pickups on shipping papers
- Notify management of any problems or discrepancies
- Maintain professional personal appearance as well as cleanliness of the vehicle
- Perform other related duties as assigned
- Operate a manual transmission vehicle, if required
- Provide excellent customer service while working independently
