Job Description

Job Title: Rotordynamic Engineering Intern

Req ID: 50183

Job Location (Short): Tallahassee, FL, USA

Employment Type: Part Time

Segment: Danfoss Climate Solutions Segment

Job Category: R&D, Technology and Engineering

Work Location Type: On-site

The Impact You'll Make

As a Rotordynamics Engineering Intern, you'll help shape the performance and reliability of next-generation commercial compressors. Your work will directly support the development of high-efficiency, oil-free compressor technologies that play a key role in advancing sustainable cooling and climate solutions.

You'll gain hands-on experience analyzing and optimizing the dynamic behavior of rotating systems-turning theory into practical engineering impact. From vibration analysis to simulation, your contributions will help ensure our products meet the highest standards of performance and durability.

This is an opportunity to learn, experiment, and make a tangible contribution alongside experienced engineers working on real-world product innovation.

This is a year-round internship located onsite at our facility in Tallahassee, Florida.

What You'll Get from Us

At Danfoss, you'll do work that matters-while building skills that last a career. You'll join a collaborative, innovative engineering team where your ideas are welcomed and your development is prioritized.

You'll gain exposure to real product development cycles, work with experienced engineers, and deepen your technical expertise through hands-on projects. We offer a supportive environment where learning is continuous, feedback is encouraged, and curiosity is rewarded.

This role provides a strong foundation for a future in mechanical engineering, with opportunities to grow your skills in simulation, testing, and advanced compressor technology.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Analyze rotordynamic behavior using modeling and simulation tools to support compressor performance and reliability
  • Conduct vibration testing and modal analysis to validate prototypes and identify improvement opportunities
  • Create and maintain engineering documentation to clearly communicate test results and insights
  • Collaborate with engineers to troubleshoot issues and determine root causes of vibration or structural challenges
  • Support prototype builds and validation testing to bring new designs from concept to reality

What We're Looking For

  • Currently pursuing a degree or recently completed a Masters Degree in Mechanical, Mechatronics, Aerospace or Aero-Thermal Engineering or a related field
  • Foundational knowledge of vibration analysis, rotordynamics, or mechanical design through coursework or projects
  • Experience with CAD tools (e.g., NX, SolidWorks, CATIA) and basic engineering analysis methods
  • Ability to learn quickly and apply new concepts in a hands-on environment
  • Strong organization skills and a self-motivated approach to problem-solving

What You'll Get from Us

  • We promote from within and support your learning with mentoring, training, and access to global opportunities.
  • You'll have flexibility, autonomy, and support to do your best work while maintaining a healthy work-life balance. Your well-being matters to us.
  • We strive to create an inclusive work environment where people of all backgrounds are respected, and valued for who they are.
  • You'll receive benefits like annual bonus, paid vacation, pension plans, personal insurance, and more. These vary by country and contract, but they're worth asking about-we think they're pretty great.
