Shift: Monday 08:30 AM - 05:00 PM / Tuesday 08:30 AM - 05:00 PM / Wednesday 10:00 AM - 06:00 / Friday 09:00 AM - 05:00 PM
/ Saturday 08:30 AM - 03:30 PM
Description:
• Provides exceptional service and/or care to all patients, customers and team members. Maintains awareness of comfort and safety needs of patient.
• Plans, directs and evaluates total nursing care.
• Works alongside and offers assistance to medical assistants (MAs) and licensed practical nurses (LPNs)
• Explains procedures and treatments to patients to gain cooperation, understanding, and reduce apprehension.
• Accurately and promptly implements physician’s orders.
• Maintains the standards of accurate and complete recording and reporting.
• Administers vaccines, prescribed medications and treatments in accordance with approved nursing techniques.
• Prepares equipment and aids Physician during treatment and examination of patient to promote optimal patient outcomes by team collaboration..
• Observes patient, records significant conditions and reactions, and notifies supervisor or physician of patient's condition and reaction to drugs, treatments, and significant incidents.
• Obtains VS to detect deviations from normal and assess condition of patient.
• Responds to life saving situations based upon nursing standards, policies, procedures, and protocol while remaining resourceful and calm.
• Initiates a patient education plan according to the individualized needs of the patient, as prescribed by physician and/or policy including patient and family instruction.
• Participates in in-service training for personnel.
• Performs laboratory test procedures within established criteria. Including but not limited to:
o Performing quality controls as per NYS guidelines.
o Maintaining logs with accurate documentation.
o Follows NY state guidelines for CLIA waived testing.
• Adheres to safety and scientifically accepted infection control practices and standards. Including but not limited to:
o Follows handwashing protocols.
o Practices aseptic techniques.
o Utilizes protective barriers.
o Utilizes personal protective equipment, e.g. gloves, lab coats.
o Maintains proper disposal of hazardous materials.
o Demonstrates knowledge of role in emergency disaster.
o Adheres to OSHA Blood Born Pathogen Standard.
• Follows National Patient Safety Goals, using two patient identifiers at all times.
• Rotates among various clinical services as needed.
• Participates in department quality improvement activities.
• Communicates effectively with others for continuity of care.
• Performs independent diagnostic studies within scope of practice as ordered by physician.
• Performs other duties as required, including job responsibilities for MAs and LPNs.
QUALIFICATIONS:
• Graduate from an approved Registered Nursing program.
• Current registration and valid registered nursing license to practice in N.Y.
• Prompt and regular attendance according to policy
• Complies with dress code and appearance standards.
• Interacts with patients, customers, the general public, management, and team members in a professional, courteous, and tactful manner.
• Functions and communicates respectfully with peers.
o Covering each other during breaks, helping to draw bloods outside of daily assignments
• Works with integrity, upholds ProHEALTH’s mission, values, and maintain confidentiality in all situations.
• Follows safety & security policies & procedures, immediately reporting suspicious activities and unsafe conditions.
• Participates in all mandatory job training and meetings.
• Adheres to requirements, policies and procedures outlined in the Employee Handbook and/or other clinical practices.
Type of certification required:
• Graduate from an approved Registered Nursing program.
• Current registration and valid registered nursing license to practice in N.Y.
