A 198-bed, Level III trauma center in Farmington, NM is seeking a Registered Nurse for its Surgical Inpatient Unit, caring for orthopedic, neurosurgical, and medical/nephrology patients on a night shift schedule. The hospital serves the Four Corners region of New Mexico, Arizona, Colorado, and Utah, and offers a broad range of services including a nephrology unit, cancer center, childbirth center, pediatric unit, inpatient behavioral health unit, and extensive surgical services.

The role. This RN position is based on the third-floor Surgical Inpatient Unit, a 24-bed unit with a maximum patient ratio of 1:6, caring for adults ranging in age from 18 and older. The nurse will manage a high-acuity mix of post-operative and medical patients, including those recovering from orthopedic, neurosurgical, and abdominal surgeries, as well as patients presenting with sepsis, respiratory issues, alcohol withdrawal, rib fractures, altered mental status, and complex diabetic care needs. Clinical responsibilities include management of NG tubes, chest tubes, foley catheters, and TURPs, along with ongoing pain management across a patient population that regularly sees admissions and discharges throughout the shift. The unit utilizes Cerner as its electronic health record, along with IV pumps and vital signs monitors.

What we're looking for.

  • Required education: RN
  • At least 2 years of acute care experience
  • Post-operative patient care experience including ortho/neurosurgical/abdominal surgeries, NG tubes, chest tubes, foley catheter/TURPs, respiratory issues, diabetic patient care, sepsis, alcohol withdrawal, rib fractures, altered mental status, and pain management
  • BLS required upon submission
  • All other required certifications can be obtained after hire
  • Open to candidates who do not hold New Mexico or Compact licensure; candidates must obtain prior to start

Schedule. Night shift, 7:00 AM–7:00 PM rotation on the Surgical Inpatient Unit.

Compensation. $29.05 - $46.48/hr plus $2 sign-on bonus
