NaphCare is hiring a RN Supervisorto join our team of medical professionals in Tucson, Arizona, where we manage all aspects of healthcare for the individuals who are currently incarcerated in the Pima County Juvenile Detention Center. This is a Full Time position!
As a Correctional Registered Nurse Supervisor, you will work alongside correctional staff and other medical professionals to ensure quality care is provided to the individuals in residence and nursing care is performed in compliance to standards and adherence to regulations. This is a unique position where you can make a difference to this diverse population of patients with complex medical needs.
Responsibilities:
The Registered Nurse (RN) Supervisor combines clinical expertise with educational leadership, requiring strong communication, organizational, and teaching abilities. Duties and responsibilities may include and are not limited to:
Coordinate, structure, implement and guide the delivery of the nursing service program within the facility
Conduct daily clinical rounds
Take and document all patient history and vital signs
Assist with daily triage/sick call, minor medical/surgical procedures and patient assessments
Assist with examinations and/or treatments
Assist in evaluating the quality and effectiveness of clinical services
Assist with orientation and training activities of clinical personnel
Observe and review documentation, orders and patient care plans
Assist with disaster plans and emergency preparation
Respond to and initiate care for medical emergencies within the facility
Creating and delivering educational materials, including lesson plans, presentations, and hands-on training, to meet specific learning needs
Identifying knowledge gaps and skill deficits among nursing staff to tailor training programs effectively
Organizing training sessions, managing logistics, and facilitating learning through various methods (classroom, online, on-the-job).
Assessing the impact of training programs on staff performance and patient outcomes, using evaluation tools and metrics
Working with other healthcare professionals, including nurse managers, educators, and clinical leaders, to develop and implement training initiatives
Ensuring that training programs meet regulatory requirements and standards for nursing practice
Providing guidance and support to new nurses and preceptors, fostering professional development and a positive learning environment
Maintaining accurate records of training participation, completion, and outcome
Qualifications:
Experience / Requirements / Qualifications
Holds a current, unrestricted license as a Registered Nurse within the State
Must possess an active BLS CPR Certification (AHA preferred)
Significant experience as an RN, preferably in a relevant clinical area
Excellent communication skills with proven experience training medical staff
Experience with various software and online platforms for training delivery and documentation and ability to effectively communicate information both verbally and in writing, with strong presentation skills
Ability to plan, organize, and manage multiple training activities simultaneously
Ability to build rapport with nursing staff, foster a positive learning environment, and provide constructive feedback
Ability to identify and address training-related challenges and adapt training programs as needed
Display integrity, professionalism and be able to adhere to a Code of Conduct and comply with all facility(s) correctional healthcare policies, procedures, and legal requirements
Ability to interact effectively with patients from diverse backgrounds, including those with mental health or substance abuse issues
Must have the ability to maintain confidentiality of all proprietary and/or confidential information and integrity, professionalism and ability to adhere to a Code of Conduct and comply with all facility(s) correctional healthcare policies, procedures, and legal requirements
Must pass the facility’s criminal background check and drug screening
Physical Capabilities:
Must have the ability to stand for long periods, lift and move patients (up to 50 pounds), bend, squat, reach, push, pull, walk significant distances, and perform physically demanding tasks like CPR, all while maintaining good balance and endurance throughout a shift.
