Labor and Delivery

Patient Population: Low and high-risk obstetrical patients

Patient Ratios: 1:2

Number of Beds: 28 labor beds, 8 obstetrical emergency department beds, 4 operating rooms, 5 pre/post-op cesarean section rooms

Department Specifics: We are a Level IV Maternity Care Center that delivers 500+ babies per month. We take care of a variety of obstetrical complications. We continually educate and train our staff through simulation to ensure that we are prepared to take care of the sickest maternal patients. We are constantly evaluating our processes to ensure that we are providing evidenced based care to our patient population. We are extremely team oriented and are truly a "work family". We have a strong Unit-Based Council that works closely with unit leadership to improve areas of focus on our unit.

AWH Information

Currently the only dedicated women's hospital in Fort Worth, Andrews Women's Hospital delivers almost 6,000 babies annually - more than any other facility in Tarrant County and in the Baylor Scott & White Health System. Andrew's Women's Hospital offers a variety of labor and delivery services, including maternity, high-risk pregnancy care, a level III neonatal intensive care unit among others. Our 63 - bed neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) is designed to care for the tiniest infants dealing with the most serious medical challenges. It is one of the largest NICUs in North Texas with a highly skilled team of neonatologists on our medical staff, neonatal nurse practitioners, respiratory and occupational therapists, dietitians, pharmacists, social workers, chaplains, and registered nurses working together to care you your whole family. Andrew's Women's Hospital has recently been designated as a Level IV maternal care center, the top designation from the Texas Department of State Health Services. A Level IV designation is awarded to hospitals that proved the highest possible comprehensive care and underscores the facility's ability to treat even the most complex cases.

Job Summary

Your role as Nursing Supervisor involves supervising healthcare professionals and ensuring high patient care levels. Maintain a safe environment and nurture nursing practice to improve patient outcomes. Oversee operations, productivity, and resource distribution to meet department priorities.

Essential Functions of the Role

  • Working closely with members from different professional fields to ensure coordinated patient care.
  • Assessing how effective the nursing practices are and infusing practices and research discoveries that are evidence-based.
  • Fostering a caring and outcome-promoting environment.

  • Efficiently managing resources to promote safety within the healthcare system.

  • EDUCATION - Associate''s Degree
  • MAJOR - Nursing
  • EXPERIENCE - (2) Two Years of Experience
  • CERTIFICATION/LICENSE/REGISTRATION -Registered Nurse (RN)
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) or obtain within 30 days of hire or transfer.
