Desired Shift: Days - 12HR: 7am - 7:30pm THIS IS A CLINICAL SUPERVISOR POSITION AND THE CANDIDATE MAY BE SUBJECT TO PATIENT ASSIGNMENT 1. ESSENTIAL KNOWLEDGE / SKILLS Attention to detail, high level of accuracy. Ability to maintain confidentiality and function effectively under high volumes of patients. Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills. Solid understanding of English, grammar, and punctuation. Ability to exercise independent judgment on a regular bases Effective interpersonal skills. Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as proportions, percentages, BSA, circumference and volume. Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions. 2. MINIMUM ESSENTIAL EXPERIENCE Two (2) years of recent department specific experience required. 1-2 years Charge nurse, supervisory expertise in ED . 3. MINIMUM ESSENTIAL EDUCATION Completion of an accredited Registered Nursing Program BSN preferred 4. REQUIRED LICENSURE / CERTIFICATIONS Registered Nurse with current California RN license. Current BLS certification. ACLS certification. PALS certification NIH Stroke Certification to be completed by end of the week of NEO IVClient only: MICN and TNCC CEN/CCRN encouraged 5. BUDGET SUPPORT U RI C ER SER Planning Assists with the planning and yearly needs assessment for the ED budget. Under the supervision of the Director/Manager, monitors patient care activities within budget/monitors staff usage/monitors use of premium labor. Cost Control Identifies cost reduction opportunities on a regular basis and recommends implementation when necessary. Capital Equipment/Procurement Participates in the identification and selection of vendors/equipment for services when needed. COMMENTS: 3. ORGANIZATIONAL RESPONSIBILITY U RI C ER SER a. Patient Safety-In collaboration with manager, works with Medical Staff and other departments to ensure coordination and integration of clinical processes to ensure patient safety and regulatory compliance. Patient Rounding is at or exceeding Client b. Customer Service/Guest Relations Role model for coordinating and integrating interdepartmental services. Identifies inter-intradepartmental problems, suggestions plan to resolve issues, implements and evaluates plan with assistance and approval of Director/Manager. Staffing Assists with the oversight of the monthly staff schedule to maintain adequate daily staffing levels. b. Demonstrates knowledge of cardiac monitoring; identifies dysrythmias and intervenes appropriately, including alerting physician to significant changes. d. Demonstrates accurate assignment of triage categories. e. Maintains current knowledge of medications and their current administration based on patients age and clinical condition. f. Is able to assist ED provider with diagnosis and interventional procedures, i.e., central lines, closed reductions, advanced airway management. g. Is competent to monitor the patient undergoing procedural sedation. h. Is able to care for patients throughout the continuum of care. i. Is able to perform ACLS and PALS, as appropriate, including infusion of appropriate medication as needed. j. Is able to perform ACLS interventions competently including external pacing, cardioversion and medication administration. k. Has attended and completed annual unit specific skills day. IVClient MICNs Only: Accurately completes documentation (run forms, logs, etc.). Complies with county procedures for treatment and guidelines. Accurately seeks direction from base station physician, pre-hospital liaison nurse, and trauma program manager. COMMENTS: 30 Bed unit. 100-110 avg. patients daily - 120's during winter season. CA License, BLS, ACLS, PALS required. Perform patient assessment according to hospital/unit policy. Performs initial assessment appropriate to the patients clinical presentation/diagnosis, care setting, age, development level, and cultural and religious orientation in a timely manner. Performs completely and accurately including, but not limited to, physical (i.e. assessment for pain, skin breakdown, risk for falls), psychological (i.e. cognitive and communicative skills or development), social status and other patient needs.Identifies and prioritizes the need for further assessment based on the patients clinical presentation/diagnosis, care setting, desire for care and responses to any previous care. Initiates discharge planning for each patient upon admission as appropriate. Develops a Patient Plan of Care that: Is individualized for each patient based on assessment of needs that include input from the patient, family and other multi-disciplinary health care team members. Includes plan for discharge/transfer. Identifies specific nursing diagnosis is relevant to assessment findings. Identifies interventions, for each nursing diagnosis, specific to identified patient needs.
