The Endoscopy RN plays a critical role in supporting diagnostic and therapeutic procedures, ensuring patient safety, and maintaining the highest standards of clinical excellence. You will collaborate closely with gastroenterologists, anesthesiologists, and multidisciplinary staff to provide seamless care throughout the pre procedure, intra procedure, and post procedure phases.
Patient Assessment — Conduct thorough pre procedure evaluations, review medical histories, and identify potential risk factors.
Procedure Support — Assist physicians during endoscopic procedures, ensuring proper equipment setup, sterile technique, and accurate documentation.
Sedation Monitoring — Monitor patients receiving moderate sedation, assess vital signs, and respond promptly to changes in condition.
Post Procedure Care — Provide recovery room monitoring, patient education, and discharge instructions.
Equipment Management — Operate, troubleshoot, and maintain endoscopy equipment, ensuring compliance with infection control standards.
Collaboration & Communication — Work closely with the care team to coordinate workflow, support quality initiatives, and promote a safe clinical environment.
Documentation — Accurately chart assessments, interventions, medications, and patient responses in accordance with regulatory and facility guidelines.
Minimum 3 years of Endoscopy experience in a hospital or ambulatory procedural setting.
Current NJ RN License in good standing.
BLS and ACLS certifications required.
Strong knowledge of GI anatomy, sedation protocols, and endoscopic procedures.
Excellent critical thinking skills, attention to detail, and ability to remain calm under pressure.
