Position Statement:

Under the supervision of the Cardiologist and Respiratory Care Medical Director, provides a comprehensive cardiac and pulmonary rehabilitation program for adult patients while maintaining standards established by the American Academy of Cardiovascular and Pulmonary rehabilitation.

Key Responsibilities:

• Reviews patient chart and verifies physician orders. • Identifies and greets patients professionally and in a friendly manner, explaining goals, treatment procedures, diagnostic tests, and any equipment used. • Conducts and charts all pertinent patient information. • Conducts various cardiac stress testing under Cardiologist. • Schedules patients for Cardiac and Pulmonary Rehabilitation, maintains record of referrals. • Checks prior auth status and copay amounts before initiating rehab. • Assesses the patients condition and needs, sets goals, prescribes appropriate actions to meet those goals, and addresses the physical, psychological, social, educational, and rehabilitative needs of the patient, including referral after discharge from Cardiac/Pulmonary Rehabilitation phase 2. • Thoroughly reviews medical history for current medications that may affect target heart rate, checks pulse, blood pressure, and SpO2 levels prior to beginning exercises, checks history and examines patient for arthritic changes that could warrant an alteration of exercise equipment. • Promotes patients self-management of their condition by reducing risk factors through medication adherence, smoking cessation, increasing functional capacity, weight, and general diabetes management, and thereby reducing disease progression and hospital readmission. • Consults with physicians as to patient progress. • Assists physician in determining readiness for discharge or phase 3. • Orders and maintains essential stocked items, maintains a need and orderly space.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• RN, valid license required • Ability to perform cardiovascular physical assessments, accurately interpret clinical data, and triage medical care as appropriate • BCLS certification required • ACLS certification required • Arrhythmia EKG course recognition required • Ability to follow NCHs standards of behavior

Pay Information:

$32.88 - $43.49 hourly
