Position: ICU RN (Intensive Care Unit RN)
Location: Washington, DC (George Washington University Hospital)
Contract Length: 13 Weeks (06/15/2026 – 09/12/2026)
Shift: Nights, 3x12s (36 hrs/week, AM/PM rotation)


Required Experience

  • Minimum 3 years of ICU RN experience
  • Experience in a multidisciplinary ICU (neuro, trauma, cardiac, surgical, etc.)
  • Strong experience with high-acuity, critically ill patients
  • Experience with Cerner EMR required

Education

  • Graduate of an accredited or NLN-approved RN program
  • BSN – Highly preferred

Certifications & Licensure

  • Active Washington, DC RN License
  • AHA BLS (Basic Life Support)
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support)
  • NIHSS (Stroke Certification) – Required

Additional Requirements

  • Must live at least 50 miles away from the facility
  • Ability to work rotating shifts (AM/PM)
  • Strong critical thinking and communication skills
  • Comfortable in high-acuity, fast-paced ICU environment

Role Responsibilities

  • Provide care for critically ill patients across multiple specialties (neuro, cardiac, trauma, pulmonary, surgical)
  • Operate and manage advanced ICU equipment including ventilators, arterial lines, central lines, and cardiac monitors
  • Assist with and monitor patients on advanced therapies (IABP, ECMO, Impella, CRRT)
  • Perform continuous patient assessment and implement care plans
  • Administer medications, IV infusions, and blood products
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary care teams
  • Support and educate patients' families
