Full-Time RN in the ICU Stepdown unit Schedule: .9 FTE, working three 12-hour night shifts (1830-0700) Location: PeaceHealth Southwest Medical Center, Vancouver

Position Details:

Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care needs. Documents patient care in the healthcare record according to established standards. Directs and delegates care to other team members in accordance with their education, credentials, and demonstrated competence. Ensures own professional effectiveness through education and professional development. Participates in the development of and maintains established hospital policies, procedures, and objectives, quality improvement, safety, environmental, and infection prevention program.

Management of ventriculostomy EVD and ICP. Nursing care of patients with non-traumatic ICH, non-traumatic SAH, seizures. Nursing care of patients post tPA, thrombectomy, aneurysm coiling, carotid artery stenting, and intra-cranial stenting. Management of blood pressure abnormalities with parenteral vasoactive agents. Completion of complex neurological assessments and scales.

Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

Accredited School of Nursing Requires Minimum 1 year or more of recent continuous critical care experience Completion of a critical care intern residency program or 3 years in an acute care setting with 400 hours in a critical care unit within the previous year. Critical care nursing experience preferred. Required: Registered Nurse - Washington State Required Upon Hire: Basic Life Support Certification Required Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) and NIHSS Certification within 6 months of hire Trauma Nurse Core Course (TNCC) required within 12 months of hire for RNs working on Tower 4. Preferred: Critical Care Registered Nurse (CCRN) certification and BSN

Skills:

Demonstrated knowledge of and ability to apply age-specific principles of growth and development and life stages to meet each patients needs. Required: Demonstrated ability to promote positive interpersonal relationships and patient-family centered work environment. Required: Able to support and interpret medical center philosophy, policy, and procedures. Required: Basic computer skills.

Working Conditions:

Lifting: Patient handling no greater than 35 lbs. without the use of assistive equipment and/or devices. NIOSH. Fine motor skills to be able to grasp and control medical equipment and perform precise procedures. Push/Pull: Frequently up to 45 lbs. force, i.e., WOW medical carts. Ability to move around area with frequent sitting. Bending, stooping, squatting, reaching, kneeling frequently. Lifting non-patient up to 20 lbs. occasionally and 5 lbs. frequently.

Environmental Conditions:

Exposure to biohazard body fluids and airborne particles. Must be able to complete tasks in a noisy environment. Mental/Visual: Vision and hearing required within normal limits. Glasses, contacts, hearing aids permitted. Ability to communicate and exchange accurate information.
