EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
A graduate of an accredited professional nursing program with a current license to practice in New York State.
Minimum of one year of experience in geriatric/long term care facility.
RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE, BUT NOT LIMITED TO:
The Nurse Educator coordinates the planning, development, coordination, implementation and evaluation of educational activities within the Nursing Department.
Participates in formal and informal educational activities within the department on all shifts.
Participates in orientation program of newly hired departmental employees.
Works with all levels of nursing staff to improve the integrity and accuracy of documentation.
Participates in the planning and implementing educational programs for the all shifts and weekend staff.
Monitors staff development activities for conferences and seminars outside of the building. Maintains ongoing files.
Participates in chart audits – monitor ongoing documentation (including electronic) related to regulatory agencies and facility needs.
