The RN Expeditor oversees efficient patient throughput, identifies barriers to timely patient care, and proactively recognizes negative trends to be reviewed. This RN is a critical catalyst to continuously improve the care of our system's?patients so they can receive their treatment quickly to help them on their road to recovery. This role maintains situational awareness through communication and available technology.
Essential Job Function - Applies knowledge of healthcare systems, resources, and patient needs to guide patients through their medical journey, ensuring access to necessary services and support.
- Expedites, prioritizes, synchronizes and mediates (in real time) clinical issues, removes barriers to discharge and addresses delays in care; identifies potential issues so staff can prioritize patient-care activities and discharges and mitigate potential bottlenecks before they occur.
- Confers with multi-disciplinary teams to identify effective strategies/approaches to reduce patient length of stay, handle complex discharges, conditional discharge orders and related issues ensuring patients have a safe discharge.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Education- Required: Bachelor of Nursing (BSN)
Experience - Required: 5 years Clinical Experience as a Registered Nurse with minimum of 3 years RN experience in the related field of Expediter role (Emergency, PCU/ICU, Procedural Area ) (Procedural i.e., PACU, Short Stay, Endoscopy)
Licensure/Certification/Listing - Required: Registered Nurse license in North Carolina or a Compact state BLS (CPR)-American Red Cross or AHA Healthcare Provider
