Job Title: RN – Critical Care (ICU)
Location: Syracuse, NY
Shift: Night Shift | 3 x 12-hour shifts (36 hours/week)
Schedule: Every other weekend and some holidays required
Duration: 14-week contract (with possible extension)

Local Pay: From $55/hr


Position Overview

We are seeking experienced Critical Care Registered Nurses (RNs) for night shift assignments in an Adult Intensive Care Unit (ICU). This role requires clinicians who are confident working in a high-acuity, fast-paced environment with minimal orientation and supervision. Unit assignment will be based on the candidate’s clinical background and expertise.


Key Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive, high-quality nursing care to critically ill adult patients in the ICU
  • Perform advanced patient assessments and implement appropriate clinical interventions
  • Monitor patient conditions, interpret data, and respond promptly to changes
  • Collaborate with physicians and interdisciplinary care teams to ensure optimal patient outcomes
  • Maintain accurate, timely, and detailed documentation within the electronic medical record system
  • Adhere to all clinical protocols, safety standards, and regulatory requirements

Required Qualifications

  • Active New York State Registered Nurse (RN) License
  • Current BLS Certification
  • Minimum 1.5–2 years of recent ICU/Critical Care experience (within the past 2 years)
  • Experience in an acute care facility of similar size and patient acuity
  • Strong clinical assessment and critical thinking skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in a Level I or Level II Trauma Center
  • Familiarity with EPIC Electronic Medical Records system
  • Prior experience in large or high-complexity hospital settings (especially for travel candidates)

  • Fast-paced, high-acuity ICU setting
  • Requires adaptability, critical thinking, and strong teamwork
  • Night shift schedule with weekend and holiday rotations
